this is somewhat of a rhetorical question. By rights, everybody should have, at some time, have worked for a nasty employer. The nasty ones outnumber the nice ones, especially in some industries.

Regale us with your stories. Sharp practice. Unreasonable demands. Hyprocisy. Nepotism. Broken promises. Illegality. Immorality. Whatever stories you got.

anyway, just wanted to start the ball rolling. Oh and what a big ball with so much momentum.....

Worked for a Muslim Builder, Was an alcoholic often on site off his brains, He used to throw bricks and timber around to get everyone working harder, was an absolute nightmare to work for, We used to get paid cash in hand and some weeks he would forget to go to the bank on the Friday and uproar would ensue. During Ramadam he would not work as he could not function without booze. Not sure why he bothered with Ramadam as he was drunk everyday so broke the Muslim laws anyway. It all came to a head one day when he sacked Two Geordies for something minor and refused to pay them, They wrecked the four storey town house we were renovating to a worse condition to when we started, Smashed every window, ripped down walls, cut cables and pipes, All the bathrooms were smashed to bits. The builder had to walk away from the job and never paid any of us and vanished.

I used to work in a factory when i was around 23 or 24.

my employer who was a dick called me a f**king black Bar**ard while we were standing at the top of the stairs.

If he put a hand on me then both of us would've gone flying down the stairs.

He wore a pacemaker so glad we did'nt go flying down the stairs as he may of had a heart attack and died and i might of gone to prison.

Worked for a manager who was gay. He would always let co-workers drink in the bar after work then invited them back to his apartment on site as they were too drunk to drive home.

He eventually got found, moved around lots of places and was arrested last year. However, he is the only boss I've ever had a problem with.

once worked for a line manager whose first advice me was to not get romantically involved with any of the women in the workplace. Turns out he was sh...gging any of the bikes on offer , and whenever the romance went sour he would turn into a wife-beater ( or whatever the term is for a casual fling ). How he never went to prison is still a mystery to me.

Did he go by the name of Cucking Funt by any chance...

You're asking me what it's all about, and I can't tell you because I don't know what's going on myself.

Truly evil - but that's the risk of being self employed.

Constantly erroding my original terms of employment.

Been working in my industry 16 years. City, but not for a bank. Current job is the worst I've had in terms of the boss. He runs the show and I report to him. He is proper "old school" city. Swearing shouting, putting people down in front of everyone in an open plan office. Eyeball to eyeball with various people regularly.

Thankfully I run my group pretty well and haven't been on the receiving end too much. But the atmosphere stinks and you can imagine what morale is like. My 4th post-graduation job and by far the worst, although the best on paper!

Still, at least your company sends you to 'interesting and exciting' places. I got four weeks in f**king Warrington, some years back. A place with less action than a bar pump in a mosque.

No genuinely nasty employers, plenty of arsehole bosses and colleagues though.

Just today in fact a colleague asked how my job hunt has been going as I'm moving back to England in a week. I mentioned that I have an interview on Monday which he seemed interested in. Next thing you know he has got in touch with them and weaseled and interview for himself for exactly the same position. Suffice to say strong words were exchanged when I found out and he is no longer attending my leaving night.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...
