It will save the Treasury something like £15bn in 2016-7, and those working families are now in receipt of free childcare, a vastly increased personal allowance and a higher living wage. I don't actually agree with the policy, but that's the line the government will use.
The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money. |

It appears that in reality working parents on lower pay will be around £100 worse off a month which will be a huge new burden for them. That is probably around a 5-7% drop in monthly income for them.
