anyone remember them, anyone still using them? According to this report around 9,000 people haven't changed to colour tvs yet.

Is there still a difference in the license fee?

Yes of course I remember. When I 1st started watching, there wasn't that much in colour.

I also remember the early colour TVs. I remember seeing a telly at a friend of my mums. The "black" gadget guy from Mission Impossible had a green face!

I remember trying to watch "Pot Black" on a black & white TV. Great stuff.

We got a small b&w Ferguson set for the 1953 Coronation.Dad refused to change the set until it finally broke down in about 1961, so we only had 1 channel for years. Colour tv ? You must be joking!I never got one until I married in 1975.

You mean it had a 9" square screen in a 5' x 2'6" x 1'6" cabinet...... just like ours

I can remember when my Dad upgraded to colour he let me put the black & white one in my bedroom. It had a wooden case with silver knobs that you pushed in to change channels - no remote controls in them days, and it took about 5 minutes to warm up before you had a picture.

...and then when you switched it off, you could watch for the little white dot in the centre to disappear, which could take up to 15 minutes....
