Its great if it works out, but its always a good idea to have a back up plan, and make the most out of the options you do have (or lack the talent). I know a few people who quit work to 'write a novel' and then found themselves, out of work and realising that whilst they may know what a great novel is, and read a lot of them, and even got a 1st in Literature, they can't actually write one.
