A smoke screen or the truth?? at least we are actively looking for a striker "We've been linked with a couple of defenders: there will be no defenders coming to this football club," said the manager, who has made no secret of his intention to prioritise the FA Cup this season. "We've been linked with a couple of midfield players: there will be no midfield players coming to this club. "But we are looking for an offensive player, a striker-type player, someone who's going to contribute to a goal tally, which is an area we'd like to improve a little bit. We don't need anyone else apart from a striker if we buy a striker who can score a guaranteed 15 to 20 goals a season we will definitely be a top six every season that all we are lacking

I would like to see a defender come in, as i feel we rely to heavily on Dann and Delaney. Yes we have Brede, but could do with someone to really push Dann & Delaney.

We need cover for defence left/right side Ward and Souare do not have any one competing plus if they both got injured/suspended we could be in trouble. Next need another midfield guy who has a brain like Cabaye to control play and pick out forward passes. Striker is a must and Austin has scored more then all Palace players together in open play which shows how we really need someone. AP I think at times makes some strange choices he has done the same at all other clubs and dismissing people the way he has is stupid he needs to brush up on how to speak to the media and if the squard is so good why is he not using it all.

You don't do your main business in January, the deals aren't as good as in the summer. You do your urgent needs. Hence probably only a big powerful striker is all we will go for right now. The club always bangs on about getting good value. A striker now probably makes us money by taking us up the league a couple of places but we probably won't buy back-up players.

I think with those three plus Kelly and Mariappa for depth, we are fine for this season. We will need to look at a new centre half in the summer, but there is no urgent need and this is not the time for buying unless it's vital (which it is in terms of a forward.)

Not sure we need to be in the market for anything but a goal scorer right now. Agreed we probably need a bit more depth with some cover in certain areas, but in the position we are in at the moment i don't think that needs to be addressed until summer.
