Haven't done a thread like this for a while. it's not about songwriting skills, just purely on the voice... Rd 1. Match 1. Al Green vs Marvin Gaye

The reverend Al Green takes that bout by a clear knockout. "Lets Stay Together" delivers the final blow!

I'm not sure I like the question. Are we voting on the best voice or whose songs you enjoy more (regardless of if they were self penned). Al's voice jizzes all over Marvs but overall, I much prefer listening to Marv. If you're going on voice then Risk Astley is gonna thrash Lou Reed and the final is a shoe in for Harry Secombe.

Pretty much best voice. Yes I like Marv's songs more than the Revs, but I think Al has the better voice.

Only because Aled Jones voice broke at 13 (after the choirmaster put the holy serpent up his marmite highway)

I heard it was his c0ck I always thought his surname should be Balloon. nick, based on your reply I'll have to vote for Greeney. But you've set the bar high! Maybe should've started with Bob Dylan vs Roy Orbison.

No no no, you're all wrong! Marvin every time. However: (Marv + Al) x 10 = Sam Cooke.
