We're considering moving to Holmesdale road? What'd you guys think of living there?

I've heard it gets a bit busy on match days. Luckily not so much cheering a goal in recent weeks though!

We used to live close to ground (but not that close!) and found it ok just as long as you never moved the car on match days as you'd never get your space back!

Thank you for your reply! Yes I wasn't sure whether parking would be an issue as the estate agent said parking is not usually allowed on holmesdale road on match days - sounds like that isn't the case!
We are also nervous about the redevelopment plans taking place soon - exciting for the club but not sure what sort of disruption it may bring to the area while the redevelopment is taking place.

Depends which end.

A mate lives nearby and tells me that Holmesdale Road is a mile long. It takes him about 20 minutes to walk from S. Norwood Hill to the bunny hole. (pedestrian train tunnel)

The biggest problem is nothing to do with its proximity to CPFC but people fly tipping their rubbish on every corner.

Ha! Yes the big supermarket is definitely a plus! And you're right about good transport links. It sounds like we will have to find a place with off street parking! Thank you

Yes you're right, the road is really long!! We're looking at almost opposite the stadium - sort of near the Clifton arms pub.
Walked up the street from NJ station and yes, did notice a LOT of rubbish!! Has it always been like that then?

It's got steadily worse more recently.

There's general rubbish on match days for sure but this is cleaned up very quickly. I'm talking about people just throwing out their old furniture, beds, mattresses, junk etc. etc

No excuse for this, the problem is as soon as an area gets known as a fly tip it quickly escalates and everyone thinks it's ok to add to it.

I don't think the council do much to deter it either.

I took this pic at the Liverpool game.

This is typical of the area.

Yikes that's terrible! Though I hear that the council is starting to crack down on fly tipping as part of their 'don't mess with croydon' campaign - so fingers crossed they get somewhere with it.

The one thing it seems that South Norwood had got going for it is cheaper housing comparatively to the rest of the area (crystal palace, penge, etc..). Here hoping for the area to evolve with time to make it a nicer place to live!

If you are opposite the stadium (from Park Road to Clifton Road) you cannot park on match days - Saturday between about 1.30 (if it's a 3.00 kick off) until about 6.00, not sure about evenings but the notices in the road should show times

If your car is still there about 1.20 the warden knocks on your door, if your not in or dint move it then it gets towed away!

In other parts of the road don't even think of trying to go out or come home in your car between 1.00 and 3.00 or later from about 4.50 until 5.30

Trivial fact - Palace used to win 5-1 at least once a season, maybe next season?

To be fair, I put that stuff there out of kindness because I wanted to make the Liverpool fans feel at home.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.
