I think if we are ever going to go back to normal, and the epl should survive, then theres no better time to push on and build the new stand. The fact nobodys going to be going there for a season at least, and that the economy is on it"s knees, thus we should get a great deal with lots of construction firms doing the job at rock bottom prices(or the best price we could ever have got before the pandemic), i will have a word with steve when he get"s back from lunch to enlighten him!

yeh.yeh. yeh, they're all in it for themselves and it will never happen - so easy to parrot some negative bottom line to sound like wisdom - Parrish wants the club to succeed, in the long term success is not sustainable with that f*cking piece of sh*t we call the main stand - but raising the funds and applying the logistics ti replace it is incredibly difficult - but the idea that SP and co are stringing us along whilst driving the gravy train (which you have not expressed explicitly but is where are lot of the doom mongers are coming from) is rubbish. It's why the Americans were brought in, but it didn't work out, wrong partners - the intention is clearly there imho, but making it happen is a different matter all together. The pandemic does kick the can even further down the road unfortunately.

Gosh you a tribute a lot to my post which is totally wrong.

I do not think we will ever see any more massive redevelopment at Selhurst for 2 reasons. Firstly cost. These huge projects seem to always spiral out of control and this one involves what is in effect a ransom strip, a bit/, bits of land we do not own which we need for any meaningful development and the owners of that land will escalate costs.

Secondly VFM. I can't see the huge cost of redeveloping around 1/4 of the ground at huge cost paying in the long run. Far better maybe to move but we know that is fraught with issues.

The Whitgift Centre is going cheap and the town centre could do with demolishing. What better way to celebrate the club than putting is slap bang in the middle of Croydon? The transport infrastructure is there. Would reinvigorate the whole town.

Haha, yes, for one day every two weeks for two thirds of the year! Not good value for money in a central location I would suggest.

I jest but of course you could make the pitch a street market on weekdays, boot fair on non football Sundays? Its Crystal Palace Park for me or out of town near a train station. I would go for a large field by the M25, M23 interchange, although Tandridge Council are notoriously difficult to deal with. Brighton managed it on land that wasn't earmarked for development so I don't see why we shouldn't be able to.

It sounds like you are describing Crawley...

Well, if you think Crawley is by the M25/23 interchange then I won’t be using you as a cab driver.

I heard from a cabbie in Brighton (had a specialist heart operation down there, luckily late notice in December or I’d be concerned, as it’s in my health trust) that the hospital was planned or possibly moving to Falmer where the Amex was built. Could be wrong?

How is the M25/M23 interchange describing Crawley? You are at least 12 miles out there!
I know where he means but councils will never add to congestion on two major motorways when there will be no railway stations to relieve the pressure. Coulsdon South, Merstham are the closest and they are both still 3/4 miles away from those fields he speaks of.

Rudi
Royal Sussex County hospital in Brighton, if thats the one you mean, is currently being rebuilt at a multi million cost on the existing site. They do use a few university facilities at Falmer - I've had a couple of pet scans there. Doubt they would be moving there.

I said like Crawley not in Crawley....

Like as in a new town environment where transport links can be an issue and it is a bit of a trek to get anywhere and the nearest boozer is a Harvester.

Colchester moved from an old ground in an urban area to a new ground thry need to bus fans into.

I bet you didn't know that the 'p' in pet scan stands for 'positron'. I thought anti-matter was what Scotty used to have problems with when replacing the dilitheum crystals in that plastic tube deep in the bowels of the star ship enterprise, didn't think they'd be an everyday matter on the outskirts of Brighton. Amazing isn't it, today's dreams are tomorrow's reality. There are probably loads of Higgs Bosons around Worthing and Bognor.
