Well no, I do trump your BTec.

I don't have a BTec.

I do have an HNC which is all I could be bothered to do, and with little effort I might add.
That was one day a fortnight if I remember rightly, whilst working full time with overtime and holding down a very busy social life.

That’s a BTec Level 4 in new money Hrolf.

By the time the stand is built this qualification will probably have been renamed again many times.

Personally never recovered from when the re named O levels.

Whoopee!

In all seriousness, I have met a good number of qualified people over the years and some of them have been remarkably thick and lacking basic knowledge.
Clearly, getting an academic qualification says more about commitment and a capacity to memorize than it does about intelligence or more general knowledge.

It takes all sorts.

I would love to have some of that commitment and an eagerness to regurgitate dismally dull textbooks, but I will just have to settle for being retired by 47.

Meanwhile, have we started building the stand yet...

Tumbleweed...

Despite the massive disadvantage of my qualifications I am absolutely fascinating

Lazy people always have the most to talk about. And the least knowledgable are of course the least thick

As far as I can tell, there is no notable movement in the building programme to the outside observer.

Possibly because they have the time.
I'm not sure that fascinating is a word I would apply to you Maple. Your observations are often laced with humour that only you find funny and fuzzy reasoning that no one else takes seriously.
I'm sure that qualification looks nice on your wall though.

I don't keep any qualifications on the wall.

Funnily enough - and this is a real belter - I don't actually expect you to find humour at all, in anything or anyone.

Indeed. Things ain't what they used to be.These days you even get the odd college that gets to call itself a university (or Uni as the youngsters appear to call them.)

Or when they changed the gradings.

In my day it went A, C, E.

So if you got a C then, a couple of years later it looked an awful lot worse.

But those of us of a certain age know that in our day all exams and qualifications were much harder.

When I went to University very few students were awarded a first (and it was bloody obvious from a very early stage who they would be.) Now it seems the majority get a first and then they all get a Masters to boot.

Very different from back in the day.

Well, just maybe teaching has improved.
