Leaving Watford at end of season. Had a poor run, but surely this season must be seen as a successful one?

Very odd, would have said their first season back in the prem has been a success, they must have a big name lined up imho

Very strange decision. Midtable finish in their first season in the premiership is surely a major success given Watford's history. I don't think he'll be out of work. Hopefully it'll mean instability at Watford next season

Don't know who they have lined up, but Watford have had a few managers since the Pozzo family took over the club. Edited by Willo (13 May 2016 4.54pm)

Any club that comes up and stays up should deem it a successful season. Most Watford fans seem to think it's the right decision though.

Mainly because we have looked so poor and devoid of ideas since Christmas - with the same old players being picked - sometimes out of position. I feel sorry because Flores did do well originally but the Pozzos are ruthless and clearly they didn't see eye to eye with how Flores was running the team. Always risky changing the manager and it will be important we start next season well but then as some have said better to change now than wait till 6 weeks into next season.

On the face of it, comfortable survival in the PL in the first season and a place in the FA Cup semi-final is pretty decent but one suspects the slump in the New Year has been significant in terms of the decision not to retain the services of the manager. He was certainly backed in the 'Transfer Market' as he signed Pantilimon (G), Nyom, Ake (Loan), Holebas, Britos, Behrami, Capoue, Jurado, Amrabat, Suarez, Berguis, Doucoure,Oulare, Ibarbo (Loan), Diamanti (Loan), and Penaranda.

Bar us beating you in the semi, we've had a worse run. Were this our first season two years ago we'd be deliriously happy with either of our two seasons.

They were the main 3 brought in at the request of Flores - and none of them have really impressed. Some of those others started well and have dipped whilst others haven't been seen at all! This hasn't helped Flores cause.

Reports have stated that Flores met his targets but perhaps the owners weren't impressed with the signings and coupled with the slump in form these were key factors which led to him not having his contract renewed.Obviously I don't know the precise reasons for his departure.

Bizzare decision, would serve the Pozzo's right if they went down next year. A promoted club, safe with ages to go and an FA cup semi final in the first season... Disgraceful. Any sane manager shouldn't touch that trigger happy club with a barge pole.
