It used to happen in the days when there were fewer (or no) subs. I was trying to think of the last time I saw it happen.

I believe Henri Lansbury did when at West Ham in the Champ the other year, and if I remember correctly kept a clean sheet.

I seem to remember Phil Jagielka going in goal for Sheff Utd at Selhurst. It was a pattern of Neil Warnock's to name all the subs as outfield players and no 'keepers on the bench. Ollie's Dad,Ash.

Am I right in thinking Vinnie Jones played in goal once after a keeper sending off or injury? I will throw this question out on here and then Google it.

Wasn't there one a couple of weeks ago in league 1 or 2, and the first thing he had to do was face a penalty? He saved it! Thinking about that now, it might've been a sub keeper. Though I don't think so. Oh I don't bloody know!

I think Salako's effort was quality, just because he was up against Wimbledon at their brutal worst!

I expect it goes too far back for YouTube. Not very interesting for this discussion, but down at my non-league team, Burgess Hill Town, we had one of our best centre backs go in goal and I think he saved a penalty as well. I think he also kept a clean sheet, but the defence were EXTREMELY protective of him.

Someone did it in league 1 or 2 a few weeks back and saved a penalty. Can't remember the team though.
