With Manchester City signing Gündogan and Guardiola already having Fernandinho, Toure and Fernando I don't think Delph will see himself getting much time on the pitch. Delph would add a bit more energy and, being left footed, balance to our midfield.

Dependant on tactics/formation could be Puncheon, Zaha or McArthur but ultimately Ledley's place in the squad. McArthur is the only proper box to box player in the squad and we missed that energy and stamina when he was out.

I think that is the mind set we need to change.New signings need to improve the starting 11.

Given his likely wage at City, half the squad.

Aye?

Is it not plainly obvious Delph would improve the first team? Since there are 25 spots in the squad, Ledley or Mutch will be surplus to requirements. I think a midfield selection of Cabaye, McArthur, Puncheon, Delph and Jedinak would give us great options and depth.

man city will probably want to keep hold of him so to have "homegrown"talent within the squad for the EPL

Oh yeh, forgot about that. They'll probably need to buy some more homegrown players since Richard Wright retired. I expect Stones will probably go there, maybe Kane or Wilshere might end up there too.

I think thats a good suggetsion, but earlier 'rumours' focused on Ryan Mason from Spirs who might fill that role?

You said to take Ledleys place in the squad.
I'm saying any new players need to go in the first 11.
The 25 is neither here nor there when Alan never uses them.
Cannot see anyone buying Mutch can you.?
I also like Ledley.
Anyhow as a previous poster said Delph will not be leaving.

He would take take Ledleys spot in the 25 man squad, not Ledleys squad role was what i was saying, he would definitely be in the first XI at the expense or Puncheon, McArthur or Zaha dependant on the tactics. Pardew doesn't use the squad players much because they're not good enough currently, we need 14-16 players worthy of starting, currently we only have the 11 that typically do.

For me Ledley is too injury prone to be worth retaining and offers little game changing ability nor defensive shoring up.

But I agree now with the homegrown players issue brought to my attention, it seems unlikely he will be moving.

I disagree that he is a significant upgrade on any of the above mentioned. Agree with BG any incoming have to be significant improvements.
