I hate seeing these pictures of him. There are some who seem to enjoy mocking him like he is a 19th century circus freak. He is clearly a very sick man in need of some good friends.

Was discussing this at work today He's going to die soon and no one will step in. I don't know what anyone can do to intervene but if anyone knows , tell me I'm reasonably local and I'm willing to try.So sad to see a fellow human being self destruct. Edited by danincyp (12 Jul 2016 9.16pm)

He has had help, time and time again, but like so many others he just lapses back into the alcoholism, and I think in the end people just get fed up with trying to help someone who they perceive as not trying to help himself - which of course he can't. That's the tragedy with alcohol addiction. Only the very strong can overcome it.

It's not because he's necessarily weak , it is massively addictive. He's quite a tragic character. I hope he finds happiness before he destroys himself.

He's had many chances, he has lots of friends, he has a loving family which he abused, many opportunities to get help, he takes the easy way out rather confront his demons An addiction yes and I sympathise but also a bit of selfishness as well

He needs to keep himself occupied. I really think what would work for him would be to manage at non league level. Keeping yourself busy has been my key to staying off the drink...

Difficult to know how to feel about it. Really not sure to what extent I feel sorry for him and to what extent I feel that he has had every opportunity to turn things around and hasn't done it. I know two things for sure though; firstly a lot of his 'mates' should be hanging their heads in shame for the way they bled him dry and enabled him over the years. Also, having been subjected to an alcoholic family member myself for years, I feel desperately sorry for his family.

Sadly a lost cause I feel. The only thing that could probably save him is an indefinite sectioning, or himself. Mental health issues mixed with addiction are a terrible combination, because it robs you of the self as well as will.
