I bought one recently, and did some extensive research. In the end - living in a climate where 100+ F days are common - I was limited to models with a super capacitor rather than a lithium ion battery (which tend to catch fire in hot environments, like a car sitting in the sun).

I went with the Street Guardian SGZC12SG as it was the right combination of function, price and power source. I'm very happy with it. The video quality is excellent, and it puts a location, time and speed stamp on the video. It also has a bump feature, so it'll start recording when parked, if it feels an impact.

Having just been (wrongly) ticketed for running a stop sign, and also the victim of a couple of crashes that weren't my fault but sans witnesses to prove my side, I feel much safer with the dash cam keeping an incontrovertible record of what's going on.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.
