As they have decided to boycott G4S, who they normally use, for something they've apparently done in Israel (but they're not anti-semitic of course) and then the company they awarded it to is refusing to be forced into signing a union agreement.

Can they organise anything at the moment? Not to mention wanting to open talks with IS ffs.

Not anti semitic per say but pro Palestinian regarding G4S running Israeli prisons.

Why shouldn't people who work for security companies have agreed rights? Labour weren't asking Showsec to get staff to join a union but to agree to minimum terms and conditions for the workforce.

Do Owen Smiths comments on talks with ISIS reflect what others in Labour have said?

This would be the same G4S that bungled the security at the London Olympics. Perhaps Labour want to be confident that their security would actually turn up

Why empty given membership has increased around 100,000 and are by far the largest political party (around half a million members)

I said they're not anti-semitic didn't I? They've got some vague claims about a link between G4S and Israeli prisons. Hardly concrete reasoning.

Why should a company have to change it's policies to be awarded a contract it tendered for? The GMB wanted them to sign a union agreement when no such request was made pre-tender.

It's anti-competitive.

I couldn't give a f*** but i'm pretty sure the other crackpot has said similar before too.

They've happily used them since 2012 so I doubt that's it.

They want to be sure that some security turns up, or there'll be no conference at all.

Given the huge split in the party all the more need for the security.

It'll be a placard central.

With no security about they may well pay them a "visit".

Price and backhanders - in particular to government ministers and MP's, local Councillors whoever awards contracts really. We like to call it the Irish model.
