Not sure what your point is.

You're unhappy we signed Benteke?

You'd rather Murray was still in our starting XI?

Does Parish not also warrant attack for signing Wickham and Benteke?

More like another skewed view of things to support the Anti Pardew agenda....

What a strange topic and post? Murray is long gone. What's with all this reflective speculation about players that have left the club. We've brought in Remy, Beneteke, Townsend, Tomkins, Flamini and Mandala ( all of whom are quality ) for a total spend of £9mil. That's literally nothing in football terms. Championship teams would have spent more than us and not nowhere near what we signed. How about giving SP and AP credit where its due at times instead of choosing to be a needlessly negative and whinge about one player who's left?? Christ.

I'm shocked that no-one has suggested bringing back Wilbrahmovic or Jerome Thomas.
We'd have saved a fortune!

We got the very best of Murray. The VERY best. He's not at the level we are now at. Grow up, move on and get over it

..it was the way we used him from the very first Premiership game up until he went that pissed me most, talk about wasting opportunities! every time he came on the opposing team had not a clue what to do with him and he always created fantastic opportunities in the short times he was allowed, the selling of him was just as much a relief for me as it was for him, I could not stand seeing him sitting on the bench whilst Campbell and Gayle fell over each others stupid feet.

Seriously? Not how I remember it at all.

Get your rose tinted glasses seen too.

He was past it, spent most of his time fouling players in frustration of being too slow.

Have to say I always see the replacement of decent players like this - it takes time and money to replace the really good ones with an equivalent or better.

Quite often it demonstrates the futility of selling players as you spend several times the transfer fee working through a range of replacements.

That said, players age and there is always a right time to sell - the key is recognising it. I am reasonably confident Benteke will do a job for us and score goals. His performance at Bournemouth in taking and holding the ball through the air was the first time since Murray I have felt confident in a striker.

I think a lot of the ire at the OP is well over the top. If you take Palace out of it and think of the money Liverpool spent trying to replace Suarez or even Man Utd who still have a Roy Keane shaped hole in their midfield despite chucking squillions at it, it is an obvious conclusion.

Chill.

I would like to hear if any opinions have changed with the passing of time regarding the subject matter of this thread after Glenn Murray knocked us out of the FA Cup last night with his 7th goal of the season.

Any glance of the responses will see I was absolutely slaughtered for what I suggested back in September, 2016.

Are opinions still as strong? Does anybody out there think the OP had a valid point at the time?

As I understand it Murray wanted to leave and that being the case the question of what would have happened if he had stayed is totally moot. When it's a player's time to move on he moves on. Otherwise you have a malcontent in your dressing room and that's really quite s***.

I couldn't give less of a f*** about the FA Cup this year.

Murray didn't touch the ball. He claimed it, but didn't touch it. Even if he did it was already going in, but he didn't.

Those smug cheeses probably think it's great he 'scored' a goal to beat our reserve defence in a game we're not bothered about, after cheering him breaking his leg for us before we beat them in the playoffs.
