Agree that Townsend is a far better all round player than Yannick?

I loved Yannick but at times he was woeful! Townsend is a definite upgrade in my opinion.

yes for sure...he was already a better player last season before we signed him aswell.

im enjoying our more patient style of play and townsend is also more suited to it.

100% def more consistent. Would rather a 7 out of 10 player every week than a hit miss player all day long. Been very impressed with Townsend so far.

Definitely. He's a complete player. I loved yannick too and on his day he could make some top defenders distinctly average, but then there would be games where he was anonymous. When we sold yannick to Everton I wasn't bothered as there was already a ready made replacement in townsend. He's quality.

An incredible bit of business. We may have possibly paid over the odds for Benteke but all of the other signings represent excellent value in the current market

I'm not going to join the Andros Townsend love-in just yet. I think Bolasie would have had a field day against the Boro defence today but equally he wouldn't have been as much support for Kelly. I thought Townsend was anonymous at Spurs - actually looked intimidated to me, and I didn't think that much of him in the WBA and Bournemouth games either so I've yet to be convinced that he is more consistent. I believe he is more predictable than Yala and therefore easier to play against and I think the top teams will find him easier to contain than Boro whereas Bolasie could frighten anyone - if in the mood. They offer different things and a direct comparison is difficult to make. However, for the moment I would rather be watching Yannick but if Townsend can perform like he did today on a consistent basis and against the better teams, I'll happily change my opinion!

Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Agree with everyone.
But last season we were one trick ponies in that (apart from set plays) our threats came from the wings. Teams didn't know how to cope with both Yala & Wilf. We depended so much on the two and so I don't want history to play down Yala's contribution. After our good start, the slide began when Yala was injured. By the time he was fit again, we'd been sussed and our threat was tamed.
What's encouraging to me is that the strengthened squad now gives us options. And it seems we've already started to use them to good effect.
Awesome goal from Christian but - best of all - well done Wilf! Great to see him smiling again!

said this all along, as great a character Yala is, we need someone on the pitch with consistency - just look how it has effected Wilf. Stability and end product gets your further, in the long run.

Yes I thought the same. Played his guts too. His work in defence was great as well. He's a better striker too, and he puts better and more balls in. Good business. Even Zaha today at Middlesbrough seems to have changed his mindset with less fancy nonsense. I hope Yala improves at Everton because he saved our asses on plenty of occassions.
