Gayle is on the bench tonight having scored 4 goals in his last 4 Championship games.
Not a bad return.

I assume it's because they play a different system away from home but do expect him to come on seeing as they're 0-3 up. Gayles 1st game for them was away to Fulham which they lost and he was woeful as they played one up front and as we know this way doesn't suit him. Ollie's Dad,Ash.

I am being very harsh I admit but looking at some of Newcastle's players I do wonder whether he will be good enough for them to merit a regular first team place.

Been pretty good for them, but the Championship is a very tiring regime, and Newcastle have a decent sized squad. Makes sense to rotate and rest players where you can.

Newcastle have following strikers at the club: Mitrovic,Murphy,Perez,Gayle.
Gouffran is also a striker but has been mainly deployed out wide at Newcastle.
Out on 'Loan' are Toney,Armstrong and Riviere.
Gayle was in the squad last night but didn't come on.
New signing Daryl Murphy was not in the squad.

Murray didn't start either - funny that the posters on here who see fit to update us on every goal Murray/Gayle score didn't mention this.

But Murray did come on - replacing Tomer Hemed.

None of his managers with us ever trusted him with a regular starting spot. Perhaps rafa being better than all of them has twigged sooner?

Echo my support for Dwight Gayle along with others on here....

He is a superb finisher and one of his goals in August got voted EFL goal of the month.

He is not suited to a lone role upfront and Rafa will play him in games where he expects the toon to dominate.

Also... Dwight never asked for a move, gave 100% for us and brought a lot of joy to Palace fans scoring twice in the 3-3 comeback at Selhurst against the Scousers making Suarez cry.

Cannot understand the constant sniping against a nice young lad that tried his best for us always.

Hero tonight on Tyneside

Toon 2-3 down in the 94th minute but win 4-3 anyhow. Hat-trick from Dwight.

Never rated him...

I may have been wrong!

All I can say is that he missed a few sitters as well as his hatrick!
