Townsend control of the ball is much better. No need for tricks with him. If he turns in more performances like the Stoke effort his England place would be back.

I'd rather have Townsend but Everton have got a fine player in Yannick too. So in answer to your question - I don't know.

I think Everton might get more out of Bolasie than we did, and fair play to them if we do. Don't let that necessarily equate to the conclusion we ought to have kept him (not that you did say that, I just meant everyone else). I personally think everyone's a winner with this one.

I didn't realise this was actually a question ;-)

Excellent business for us and probably a good result for Yannick and Everton too.

Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)

outside of tricks, i can't think of any area where AT isn't superior.

damo, a 34 year yo donkey, had more assists than YB last year.

I think at his absolute best Bolasie could perhaps influence the game more, but in reality he far too often disappeared when needed. Everton are playing really well at the moment and he is benefitting from that. The question will be can he still influence a game if and when they hit a bad patch. I think Townsend is more of a scrapper and what he lacks in unpredictability he makes up for in consistency. I also think Townsend appears to be helping Wilf up his game, as there is now competition to provide the most goals/sassists, rather than the best trick/most number of players beaten (as with Yala v Zaha)

I was discussing this with an Everton fan at work, my opinion is we got the best deal and I think Townsend has more end product. He on the other hand says he knows Everton overpaid for Yala, but he's a perfect fit for their team and thats the most important thing.

As soon as a player leaves all we remember is his faults. Bolasie is still a terrific player and has made a very good start to life at Everton, 2 assists already and Lukaku and Barkley have both missed sitters off his crosses.

Townsend has one (very) good game and he's suddenly a class apart from Bolasie? Not for me. Ask me after another 5 games.

Bolasie scored off that cross against Boro, but Lukaku claimed it, which was a bullsh*t move. Replays show Lukaku whiffed at it. I can't believe they didn't give it to Yala on review.

I think both teams will do well from this. Yala and Zaha were too similar and liked to run it up from half (and neither could hit the net very often). Hard to say how Yala would have done crossing to Benteke, but probably similar to Lukaku.

I could see both finishing with 6 open play goals this year, which would be great for us, but for Everton fans I think they'd expect more for the price paid.

It is a tough one to call. We all loved Yala, his tricks, the way he frightened defenders. But on yesterday's performance Townsend looked a genuine international class player. He is more functional and maybe does not look as exciting as Yala, but his delivery of crosses were so accurate, the cleverness of his passing was different class. We are slowly becoming a much more fluid passing team, a bit more like an Arsenal or Spurs style, and Townsend suits us better i think

The goal Townsend scored on Sunday, running with the ball from the halfway line, was more exciting than anything Yannick has ever done. (Apart from his 3 some with 2 of the crystals)

Bolasie can terrorise even the best and most experienced teams, as of yet Townsend has only put in a good performance against Stoke for us. I think we'll lose some of our counter attacking threat against the big teams, Townsend's smaller than both Bolasie and Zaha so he will get knocked off more than Yannick when trying to start counters. One thing that does set Townsend apart from Bolasie is his delivery, both from crossing and free kicks (from non shooting angles) is quality I haven't seen before from a Palace player.
