So as a new fan of CPFC, I've done a lot of reading up on the club. And from what I've read on here more then once, this seems to be the dawn of a new era at Palace, with one of their better teams in awhile, if ever. So I'm confused as to why they get so little respect from the media.

A couple of weeks ago I was watching "Men in Blazers" on NBCSN after the Liverpool Friday night game, and in their preview of that weekends upcoming games, they basically blew off the CP/MFC game, they pretended to be sleeping and didn't pick a winner. Then the last couple of Fridays, I have been listening to a EPL preview show on Sirius FC. Again when these guys got around to the CP/Stoke game, they didn't give a score, and someone again referenced sleeping. Then last Friday before the Sunderland game, same show, while a couple of guys did pick Palace, the host of the show talked about how bad Sunderland is for about three minutes, but then went on to pick them to win.

And yesterday on SFC, another show was discussing the troubles West Ham are having, and their guest (sorry, don't recall who it was), said that the Hammers have time to turn it around, especially with their next three games being against soft teams. One of those teams, of course, is Palace.

My question is....is this commonplace? Do these guys just assume, "Oh, it's Palace, they'll lose, and if they win, nobody cares?" As for West Ham, F them. The way the teams are playing now they are the soft team for Palace to play, not the other way around. Again, have they been watching lately? WHU has been awful and they'll be coming into Selhurst. They should be the team considered beatable, not CPFC.

I hear very little Palace talk on these shows, and most of it is negative or joking around. It's very annoying, not to mention frustrating.

Welcome to supporting Palace! Get used to it, this is always how we are treated by the tv pundits: if we win they will simply ignore us and show highlights of the opposition and relate how 'unlucky' they were not to score/win, and if we win they will ignore us anyway as we were just 'lucky'.

And expect to have to watch Palace last on MOTD unless they are playing Man City or ManUre.

Not entirely true. It depends who you listen to. The Sky Sports pundits seem to respect Palace, especially Paul Merson and Charlie Nicholas. Merse remembers the Coppell team of 1991 which ran Arsenal close for the League when we ended up in third place behind the Gunners and Liverpool. Some of us with long memories (Willo!! can you back me up!!??) will remember the 'team of the eighties' and people calling us 'the Arsenal of the South' such was our potential. No we have not always been 'little old Palace'!! Far from it. But the younger generation have been brought up on a diet of administrations and some Journalists still maybe don't give us enough credit, despite the fact we are now a RICH CLUB with a team full of very Good players. But the tide is turning and the respect is growing

Oh yes. Set your timer for the last 5 minutes of match of the day as that's where you will find us.

Try listening to TalkSh!te. It takes an FA Cup Final appearance to make them acknowledge that we even exist.

We're probably better off not getting any respect, otherwise you end up with Palace fans saying that we're already safe.

Couldn't give a toss what the media think of Palace. I love the club and I don't need anyone to tell me why I should or shouldn't.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride!

Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Second that! The more most of the big-time pundit Charlies ignore us and whatever rubbish Alan Shearer, Mark Lawrenson & Co utter about Crystal Palace, the prouder I am to be an Eagle. As The Crystals sing in one of their videos: "I don't care, I love it".

Yep. We are, and always have been, 'plucky' Palace.

"Team of the Eighties" aside, I don't think we've been referred to in any other positive manner.

Welcome to the rollercoaster - just hang on tight & enjoy the ride.

You could say "Nobody likes us and we don't care!", but, unfortunately, our beloved South London neighbours got there first with that one.

Personally, I don't care that much apart from having to stay up until 11:30 on a Saturday night ( yes late for me) to see Palace highlights ( all 5 minutes of them).

I dont get the whinging about MOTD time slots, Lets be honest how many times have we been in exciting games that warrent it? I see the running order mainly being the games with the most goals or incidents, not us getting beat 1-0 by WBA,Spurs etc, we wasnt on last this weekend as we were in a 2-3 game so warrented being shown earlier and was. I think we get a fair press, lets face it we have attracted a lot of plastics in the last couple of seasons that have obviously been drawn to us by the media. We are constantly mentioned for having a great atmosphere, which isnt that great most of the time just beeter than most other grounds that are quiet. We have to recognise we do not have the same draw as the bigger clubs, we are similar to quite a few clubs in the Prem likew Stoke,WBA and get the same or maybe more press than they do.
