Glen Johnson in the squad ahead of Ward despite being part of the second worst defence in the league, shipping over 2 goals a game on average.

Jesse Lingard and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in ahead of Puncheon, Zaha or Townsend.

No idea what more our guys can do to be given a chance. Genuinely thought a new manager with Palace connections might reward at least one of them with a call up. I think Townsend in particular can be very disappointed.

Here's the squad.

The only palace player close to England squad imo is scott dann. Townsend was superb against stoke and Wilfred zaha has not done enough. If our players get selected, they won't be at palace much longer. Do we really want england ruining our players.

I'm to believe there was a unanimous decision that England would call-up a palace player on 3 occasions.

1: hell freezes over
2: pigs fly
3: the Palace player no longer plays for Palace.

Thought as a joke he'd say he would have selected Dann if not for injury - and then never call him up in future

TBH I don't think Townsend is good enough but his cameo before being dropped from the Euro squad was better than we've seen from pretty well any player since

Three or four games ago people wanted Ward out. He's improved since Kelly came in but England really?

Dann has a chance if he gets fit, Townsend can feel a bit hard done by

the dignified don't even enter in the game

A Palace player getting picked for England is about as likely as one of our games being first on MotD #conspiracy

I fully accept that with a fully fit squad to choose from Ward wouldn't get close, but surely he's better than Johnson now?

It's such a weak, unimaginative squad. Can't believe that none of Puncheon, Zaha or Townsend are more worthy of a chance than Chamberlain. Perhaps I'm just biased.

From a purely selfish point of view I am happy no Palace players have been chosen.
But how the hell have Glenn Johnson and Oxlade-Chamberlain been chosen above the likes of Ward,Townsend, Zaha or Puncheon ?

Agreed - it is kind of Mr Southgate to protect Ward, Townsend, Zaha and Puncheon against International knocks

The only reason why I might show interest in an England game again is because a Palace player is in the team. Otherwise, meh!

I actually think that this international break comes at the wrong point for us. We have been doing very well and although we get a chance to rest as a squad I hope we don't lose momentum.

Hopefully also we have a lot of unused substitutes for France, Belgium, Wales and Scotland. It would be a shame to lose either of McArthur or Big Ben to injury for example!

Only Dann is worthy of an England call up IMO. As to why few Palace players got picked before, I think our 'then' game-play was a factor. Playing hoofball hardly lends itself to the experience required for international duty. For players other than defenders, slick passing would be a prerequisite, something especially our midfielders and wingers have not been known for, or week-2-week experienced in. Not that they were never possibly capable, they never were given a chance to improve or show their abilities in these areas. Except for our defenders and strikers, such as Sansom and Wright. Now with our new style of play - passing and creating chances etc - and let's face it - longer than just a year or two playing in the English top league - we may find more candidates in the near future.
