They would both be in it otherwise. The numbers are calculated using loads of different stats, then you get a boost if your team wins, so they are not very reliable as mix team quality and player quality. Also, very difficult to measure keepers/ defenders in terms of stats. See above, Davies is a lot busier so racks up way more tackles/ clearances etc which boost his stats. But others are probably better defenders.
