With our strongest fully fit side out would you agree it's looking very encouraging. If we can sign in January the boy from Brazil in midfield or equivalent quality just how strong would we be? I believe we still need a couple of quality defenders to bolster the squad but for me it's looking very exciting.

Agreed, we've really strengthened our attack. Our main defenders are good enough.. but we could improve on Ward&Souare.. Also, I like Tompkins but I can't help but feel our back line is more vulnerable with him as a starter.

Since 2010 came in we have done pretty well in terms of transfers, with a few mistakes.

Clough and Ferguson both set up a core of a team them signed just a few players each year.

Freedman set up the core of our team, then we've generally just tweaked it with a bit more quality each transfer window.

If we sign a couple of players in January that's all we need for now.

Our first team is good enough to keep us up. However our second 11 could be argued to be relegation material. Probably need to strengthen in defence, midfield and attack if we are to achieve a reliable mid-table finish. I would look at age of players to see where to upgrade first: Delaney at centre-half must be reaching the end of his playing days. Punch is 30 now and Cabaye injuries seem to be catching up with him.

Our strongest eleven is good enough to challenge for the top six, probably ending up top eight, and we could win the odd cup every now and again. But as someone else has said, the overall squad is still not good enough if we suffer injuries. Expect big upgrades again in January and next summer

I'm not sure we should expect big upgrades in January, its historically silly season and that's before you take into consideration its going to be the first inflated silly season.SP has proved he wont pay over the odds and we haven't really got any potential outgoings that would balance things out.A centre Back, attacking midfielder and winger would be on my wanted list but the problem is we are at the point of having to spend big to genuinely upgrade virtually everywhere now.Lookman and Rincon are obviously potential targets and the media has been linking us with Lima in the last week. Those 3 would be around £25-30 million potentially and they can all be made a case for improving the squad. Williams,Campbell,Mutch and Sako are all arguably surplus to requirements and could be sacrificed and I expect at least 2 of them to be sold if we buy.If Remy comes in and looks good and we can do a deal for Lima provided we can generate enough incoming cash I just wonder whether Wickham would be sold? Its out there I know but there was some interest in him in the summer reportedly from Pulis.

Put it this way, if it was to fund the right acquisition, I wouldn't be overly surprised, especially if Remy turns out to be a player we'd like to keep at the end of the season.

I personally think we'd be mad to sell him.

When fit and with a run of games, he showed at the end of last season he can be a potent force and he's still only 23.

I wouldn't want to sell him unless someone offered Bolasie money.
