I've made the decision to sell my living room separates system and speakers, and the hi-fi in our bedroom and replace them with wireless multiroom speakers.

I know that I'll probably be sacrificing a little audio quality but I mostly stream from Spotify these days so I'll not actually be losing anything for what I listen to. I'm fed up with all the wires, cables and space that separates take up, and am looking forward to the ease of streaming from my phone wherever I am.

Will probably have speakers in the living room, kitchen and our bedroom and I'm thinking: Sonos Play 5 (living room), Sonos Play 3 (kitchen) and 2 x Sonos Play 1s for the bedroom.

Does anyone have a wireless speaker set-up at home and can make some recommendations on kit. Be interested to hear anyone that has Samsung or Bose wireless systems too - any good?

In the early days of media streaming Logitech seemed to rule the roost with their Squeezebox range but seem to have dropped out of the market now.

I have a stand alone Squeezebox Radio in my kitchen which I am very happy with but you'll have to buy second hand now as they are discontinued.

Incidentally I also wanted to de-clutter so had in wall speakers installed but they won't suit everyone

Do you want woofers and tweeters with that?

I have a sonos play 3 in the kitchen, play 3 in the lounge and a play 1 in the bedroom.

Brilliant bit of kit! Sounds quality is great and the app is really easy to use. Have synced all my Spotify and Amazon music accounts.

I'm sure there would be cheaper alternatives but the sonos stuff is awesome. Will be getting a sonos playbar next. Never looked back.

I agree with Sir peanut and have the similar system to him it's quality I personally subscribe to Tidal it's a great streaming service if ur a hi Fi fan as it streams real high quality.
It's really worth the investment I also run Bose speakers near the Sonos system and garden pods they are fantastic.
The sonos sound bar is really v v good.
A Client bought me a miso system which can link with the sonos and it the best speaker I have ever owned

Enjoy 'Glad all over' will never be the same...

Wrong time to buy

Amazon have brought out the Echo which is all voice activated, walk into your home and shout out a tune to listen to, futures here.

As from next year these amazon products will control sonos systems and thus make them voice activated too.

The point is, as from next year, with competition being rife, almost all of these products will be voice activated.

Im holding back as have looked into things and came close to investing in Sonos, but 12 more months of wait and I think it'll be worth it.

I know I know, theres always new tek around the corner and everything outdates instantly, but the voice activated speakers systems is the next wave and a big leap.

I hope that it works better than the voice activated systems in my car as that rarely understands what I'm saying to it

True. Some canny people will be waiting for 7s launch before buying the 7 as a example depends on the urgency to upgrade in the grand scheme of things more bang for yr Buck holding back especially if the improvements are slightly incremental. Soon there will be more on the market which can only translate to price drops & informed choices to individual preferences.

not really, from my research the 'higher end' Sonos, Bose, Samsung etc have all of that built in. As much as I love music I'm not after studio sound I just want it to sound really good and be easy

I know what you're saying but that's the thing with technology, it moves so fast that whatever you buy is not going to be the latest thing for very long. You say hang on 12-months for the voice activated tech, but first gen technology never works properly, so that would be hanging on for even longer than 12-months until the manufacturers get it right and working as it should. I think I'm going to hand on until Black Friday to see if I can pick up Sonos kit a bit cheaper than the rrp.

dont totally know how this stuff works but if you are listening to one thing and someone else says another song title, will it not just change to the new one?, knowing these systems a little, they dont/cant 'learn' just one voice to react to, whats the trigger?
