Ok, let's be more positive. What's the best thing you've ever got for Christmas?

For me, it has to be an under-appreciated gift when I was small. My dad had spent months building and painting a wood and cardboard fortress for toy soldiers that could be slotted together in different orientations. The towers were all made of thick cardboard tubing and the walls were made of some kind of plywood with ramparts for the men to go on. Christmas morning I came down to it occupying most of the living room floor with space for me to sit inside it. He must've spent ages on it out in the garage. I feel bad about it for two reasons:

1) I barely gave it the recognition it deserved. I think by the following Christmas I had damaged quite a bit of it.

2) I hadn't noticed my dad hadn't been about much most evenings because he was in the garage working on it.

But anyway, I appreciate it now.

Best ever was a soverign ring. Great big gold ring when i was 16. Anyone who was anyone had one. I was the dogs bollicks that day. Have still got the ring 30 years on. Would never wear it but knowing my Mum worked 3 jobs to buy me it i would never sell it. One day they will come back in fashion and my son will be the bollicks for a day.
I also got a multicolured patchwork leather bomber jacket one year. The type you pulled over your head. Boy i was a cool fella back then.

Best present as a kid - i remember walking downstairs and my dad had got my brothers and i the M.A.S.K play set and transformer and displayed them all on the floor - that was pretty cool. Also the turtle figures.

But, my wife is due in 5 weeks, that'll be pretty cool...

Oh wicked, good news mate. You probably don't remember the days of us chatting on Twitter, but I'm pleased for you. That'll be an awesome gift.
