So far 3 penalties misses has cost us points. Jedinak was fantastic at penalties. I would suggest that ledley or townsend take the next one.

Who would like to see take the next penalty?

think benteke just needs some guidance, doubt he got much under pardew. Though I would suggest getting one or two to practice a lot more as well, backup penalty takers per say

I have no doubt that Fat Sam will relieve him of his duties if he pisses about again!

A bit of common sense would tell you not to do the exact same thing every time, eventually you'll get found out. Should have put his laces through it, too late now but hopefully next time.

If you are going to do the stutter and roll it in then you have to know which way the goaly is going. Bring Johnson back at 500 a week, put him on bench and just bring him on if we get a penalty

Going through our starting 11, Townsend is the only alternative but have no idea what he's like at pens. Judging by the free kicks i've seen this season, probably not great!

Might as well just put Hennessy on them and tell him to spank it

The answer the OPs question the answer is yes. It's a ridiculous way to take a penalty unless you are any good at it and I'm sorry but Benteke isn't.

The problem is, is that when you stutter like that it's then difficult to a) get any power on the penalty and b) it's easy for the goalkeeper to read your body language.

Either change the taker or get Benteke to change his style.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

New penalty taker required along with another striker to put some pressure on Benteke. Was really hacked today as that penalty would have given us a really nice cushion at 2 0.

In the position we find ourselves in we need to make every opportunity count. This is not the first time his total arrogance from the spot has cost us.

Sadly his overall performance for me has been poor in recent weeks and am beginning to feel he is not really a team player.

When it works it's great, but if keeper goes right way it will always be saved. If taken low and hard the keeper can guess right and still not save it. There is a margin for error, but not Benteke's way.
Players have really let us down this year, hope SA is tough on them?

That's obviously the right answer. And I would go for the second option. The goalkeeping coach should attach a piece of white card near both stanchions and get him taking penalties for ten minutes at every training session, with the aim of hitting one of those cards so hard that nobody could stop it.

But what do I know? If it were that easy, no penalties would ever fail to result in a goal.

Presumably he can hit a ball hard and accurately therefore he should be able to put it where the keeper can't get to it in time whether he guesses correctly or not. The technique he's using just now is easily dealt with: the keeper jsut stays put whilst he fartarses about before hitting the ball.

Whom else have we got? Cabaye has a history of fluffing penalties. Puncheon for putting them in Row Z. Townsend probably try to be a wise guy as well. Campbell has that issue with banjos and cows' arses. Wilf?
