Arsenal were pretty unplayable today. The pressure they put us under when we were on the ball was huge and caused us to give it straight back to them on too many occasions.

I can't believe I am saying this but I would start Campbell over Benteke on Tuesday

Having overseen 4 transfer windows (I think), the blame for our lack of depth has to lie squarely at his feet. It was exactly that point which made the 'transition' excuse so ridiculous. However, he's gone now and we just have to hope that Sam can get in sufficient back up to keep us up and then worry about a squad overhaul in the summer.

Exactly. We have been lacking at the back for over a year. It's no wonder that our wingers look so ineffective when they have to defend so much, or expose the full backs. Which is one of the main reasons we ship goals. Until that problem is solved, we will ship goals or struggle to score.

Sam needs to be a miracle worker to keep this lot up, unless there is a big change in the players' attitudes.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Well that wasn't great, but not quite as bad as many are making out.

Trying to look at it positively, we managed a better result away at Arsenal than Watford did at home against Spurs today.

Let's reserve judgement until the Swansea match, that's the first big acid test for the new manager. They are atrocious right now and we have to take advantage.

Nope not missed the past calendar year!

Just today's game is the worse I've seen since we been in the prem!

I can think of half a dozen that were worse, and that is saying something.

Allardyce might think that he has taken on a harder job than he imagined with the strength of the overall squad.

Shocking all round today this is becoming a very poor season and a frightening one at that.

Overrun by a very good premiership team. Expected to lose this one and at least the score was kept down. I don't think we can judge our expected performance in remaining games from this one.

I can't believe that i'm inclined to agree with you! Benteke has been awful recently and needs to know he's not undroppable. The reality is at the moment he probably is

I laughed at Gary Neville's comment regarding Benteke "Jumping would help".

Predictable.

Arsenal are a much better team.

We need to sign some quality in January.

I thought Lee looked good when he came on.... passes well and has some vision unlike half the team. Townsend - I think he plays for himself only, Zaha runs himself into the ground, Benteke....... I hope this is just a bad spell because he doesn't worth his price tag or anywhere near it. Henessey I haven't been a fan of but looked good today keeping in mind the opposition. Erm Cabaye is at least having a go at goal.

Mutch - please sell for whatever pennies when we can get for him, Kelly I hope is replaced in transfer window.

I think we will stay up but they need a kick up the arse in the fighting for the team and giving it their all rather than moaning and not bothering.

As others have said, out classed would sum this game up for me and that Giroud goal was pretty amazing.
