... in this transfer window. Rarely has it been more imperative that we are quick and effective with the players that we bring in.

We need cover for the injury crisis, to plug the long term holes in our squad but most importantly, we need them to hopefully give the squad a lift.

We have 10 days now to try and get a couple in before our next league game, which marks the beginning of a run of 7 winnable games which will basically make or break our season.

We'll play 4 of those games before transfer deadline day, so really we aren't in a position to leave it until the last minute to try and haggle the saving of a few quid here or there, there's too much at stake.

Our final 11 games includes the entire big 6 (4 of them away) so if we're playing catch up by then we're virtually back playing Tuesday night fixtures again next season. Please, for the love of God, can we just have an easy transfer window for once and give ourselves half a chance!

And it's only a matter of a few months ago that posters on here were queuing up to congratulate the board on its brilliant dealing in the transfer market.

It was decent in terms of the quality of signings we made but, in terms of Benteke for example, we didn't bring him in until 2 fixtures into the season on account of our extended wrangling with Liverpool over a few million. Well, I'm all for the sensible running of our club but my point is that holding out to save a few million this time could cost us far more if we get relegated as a result.

In his HOL radio interview SP said that he hoped to have at least one signing by the Hammers game. He also talked about the difficulties of negotiating with teams abroad. Perhaps the clues are there?

Good signings but it was obvious to some of us we were vulnerable at left back. Same 'ignore it' approach as the Def mid problem in January 2016 when Jimmac was injured.

Same sh1t again at def mid. Sell Jedinak. 1 bid for Rincon. No research on him. Now at Juventus. Didn't match Bournemouth's wage offer on Wilshere. Got Flamini who didn't play till December.

Ignore attacking midfield position again. It'll be alright. Always is. It'll never go wrong. I'm super al and I have a new contract so I must be as good as they believe.

Every game is winnable when you keep clean sheets.
