Misophonia, any sufferers?

"hatred of sound" does anyone else suffer lol? Was just googling what happens to me and came across Misophonia.. I think I've got it haha. Literally, I could strangle my younger brother when he eats, even the misses last night crunching on an apple drove me up the wall. Doesn't happen with co-workers or anything though? Just my near and dear. Strange strange stuff.

Undiagnosed, but I think I must have it. I am a pretty relaxed and easy going person generally, but sounds set me off. My wife eats loudly and also she walks about whistling but it's so shrill. I have had to dig my fingernails into my hands before while she's been eating to stop myself from just saying "THAT IS RIDICULOUS". I have told her before and she got rather upset. I get it on the train too. I swear that no matter where I sit on a train, the world's noisiest eater finds me and sits near me. I genuinely considered whether I was on a hidden camera show at one point as some big fat f**k sat and ate crisps, an apple and a drum-kit to see out the 5 minute journey from Brighton to Preston Park.

At my last job I spent all day with headphones in to cancel out the noise of those around me - eating, drinking, sniffing. It drove me mad and I genuinely couldn't concentrate. I get it at home as well - slurping drinks, blowing on food, constant banging and slamming of things. I never realised there was a possible medical explanation for it, just thought I was a miserable sod.

The ONLY reason I have an MP3 player is because the youngsters travelling back on the train when I am going home from work say "like" so many times I've wanted to obtain an AK47 and massacre everyone under the age of 21. I am also concerned that I am picking up their awful use of the language and therefore I play German industrial music extremely loudly into my brain to shut them out.

Seriously though, I am the same. When I'm watching the tv, the backing track to things on quiz shows when people are answering questions gets on my nerves. I actually think one of my son's has this. It's bizarrely the heater in my car which sets him off. Hes a very highly strung character anyway but if I have my car heater turned up fully its quite noisy and he screams with his hands over his ears like he is in genuine pain and becomes very aggitated. Quite odd
