Former England managers never recover from disaster in the England job. It haunts them forever. The idea that Big Sam would be the first one to fully recover is absurd considering he didn't buck the trend for having a shocker in the first place.

The general cliche is.. point to prove.. that'll be his motivation to keep Palace up.. but the real objective is to outplay what happened with England. He's looking to distract people from that debacle. He has to do something more dramatic than that now and the easiest way to outplay a crash is to fall harder.

That Palace would lose to West Ham was an easy call to make.. to be honest I thought he'd walk after the added ignominy of that defeat.. does the favourite son of Bolton really want to lose face in front of his most successful club..

I think it has to happen.

Usually I'd bank on the lower League club turning up for a replay at the Premier League ground as a bonus gate receipt pay day. You'd expect Palace to put Bolton away.. if it weren't for the recent history of Bolton's favourite son.

That Sam wasn't ready for a return is easy to see but only being torn apart by the one club that truly loves him will bring the message home to bear.

I don't think Bolton will hammer Palace. But I think they'll win. At which point everything is slipping away from the Fat One. I'd be amazed if he's still manager for Everton.

But if you want an insane fighter for this mad fight.. my record speaks for itself.. convicted stalker.. imprisoned in England.. wanted in Wales.. sectioned in Spain..

ok put it this way.. I was in bed with your former chairman the last time the club went down.. and Iain Dowie was manager.. playing Everton the next day.. chairman rings Dowie.. no clue what to do.. none.. unsurprisingly Palace lost four nil.

Did Dowie say to anyone at the pre-match presser.. "I don't know what to do, but when the chairman rings me the day before, I'll ask him if he's got any ideas?".. unlikely.

Of course Dowie didn't know I was in the chairman's bed.. so he was free to admit he didn't have a clue..

When a fight is staring you in the face, you front up to it or you bottle.. and considering everyone at Palace is falling apart.. from the chairman begging everyone to see what the consortium's done so far, to the manager hoping for salvation after England and the Holmesdale crying about the stupid lightshow.. the whole lot of you are whining instead of fighting.
