Seems reasonable to me. He is contracted until 2020 with Arsenal. If he came to Palace on roughly the same money he would face a 40% pay cut after only 5 months of regular football if we get relegated. I think in hindsight most people would wait for a better opportunity!

To be honest, if he can't survive on a 40% pay cut then what are we all doing? 30 k week at worse? after tax, 800,000 jesus. Edited by Vaibow (10 Feb 2017 5.00am)

It was the relegation clause that did it but he would still have been on around £30k/week in the Championship so not the end of the world.
