2 points separates us from 16th. We all feel resigned because of the awful year we've had. But, it's 2 points for god sake and I was led to believe that in football it is 3 for a win. We need to let the new crop of players realise that they could be heroes. A fanatic display with their faces on it with the words 'you could be heroes' might have an effect. As fans we've got to get behind the players. It's clear that in the past the fans and players were on board together. Now we have a responsibility to get them back on board. We're far from adrift. Thank you! Some people are acting like we are mathematically down... We have the best team in the bottom five, six. However if we lose against Boro then I think that will be game over COYP

Yeah well said. It's becoming very difficult but we have escaped before from worse positions so not totally out of the question. I do think that Middlesbrough is an absolutely must win game though. Win that and everything changes. We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Yeah well said. It's becoming very difficult but we have escaped before from worse positions so not totally out of the question. I do think that Middlesbrough is an absolutely must win game though. Win that and everything changes.

I agree with your sentiment but I'm worried that certain players don't buy into the club's character. The Pullis team had great character using the bulk of the team who got us promotion - players he brought in like Dann and McArthur fitted in perfectly. Allardyce's 4 new signings in January had high prices due to the usual January window situation but they all seem level headed and ready to work thus fitting our ethos hopefully. Regretfully I think that the problem we have is with Pardew's selections. Benteke, Cabaye,Townsend, Tomkins and Hennessey. Big money signings who aren't prepared to fight for the cause. Pardew didn't want any of the old guard and got rid of several players but the replacements just don't have the same passion. Furthermore it seems to me that the old guard are now extremely frustrated at the lack of commitment from these new big money players. Unsurprisingly we can now see the frustration in the old guard and this has led to a drop in their own performances. Sam needs to acknowledge this problem and make changes so that we go back to our old successful style. We must only have players who are prepared to give everything.

I agree with your sentiment but I'm worried that certain players don't buy into the club's character.

On paper we have the best squad we've ever had and we need to give BFS more time (even though I wish we had never got rid of Pardew). We've gotten out of worse situations with far inferior players. It's not going to be easy but there are enough games left to still give us a fighting chance. Also because it's so tight at the bottom I reckon 36 points should do it this season. That's only another 17 points out of a possible 39. Should be doable.
