We are not helping ourselves in lifting the gloom. Some comparing us to the car crash that was QPR is ridiculous. Firstly, if we go down our squad has a 40% wage decrease. With parachute payments that will automatically cover that. My understanding is this didn't happen at QPR.

We also have saleable assets. Zaha's season means he'd still go for a significant sum (albeit a few million less in the championship). With Chinese money and his impressive record at Villa, Benteke would also go for a huge sum.

We would still have a team full of quality, a healthy transfer budget and a chance for academy players to progress.

The complete utter meltdown and speculation of the club dying if we're relegated isn't helping anyone. Perspective is needed.

Equally, perspective is needed in that we're two points outside the safe zone with 36 still to play for.

Where's that 'quality' now?

What gets me is when relegation is mentioned no one mentions Aston Villa (another team to good to go down) and their struggles to bounce straight back to me palace are no different to how they performed last season yet everyone seems positive we won't go down .....I just don't get it really

This relegation run started in jan2016, & seemed to come out of nowhere, perplexing everyone. Didn't we think it was because bolasie was at the African nations & McArthur was injured? The FA cup gave us an excuse to partially ignore this, & hope it'll rectify itself.
We now sit Feb17 firmly in the relegation zone with games running out. My only hope is that as miraculously as this bad form started it will stop.
Perplexed, bamboozled & now praying to every higher entity in the book..

What gets me is how the relentless negativity is becoming as detrimental to our success as the player performances.

You mention Villa but fail to mention Newcastle. Ultimately nobody knows what will happen but the pessimism is mental, although understandable.

On Villa by the way, that club suffered from chronic under investment. By this time last year they weren't two points from safety but cut well adrift. They bought Getede, we got Benteke. Their plight now is down to new owner splashing cash all over the shop, without a strategic plan. A comparison of cpfc with avfc isn't helpful at this stage. Plus nobody, absolutely nobody, stated Villa were too good to go down last season. That just isn't true.

Good point which most headless chickens are glossing over. Think we need a starting line up without Puncheon and Ward for the time being though.
