The plus side this season, is I don't think Hennessey has been too bad, granted I think he could have done better for the third goal against City, but that's a moot point when your taking a five goal beating. Against Liverpool, Swansea and Burnley back passes and f**k up defending put him into impossible situations.

Three at the back against Huddersfield utterly failed to provide cover at the back, and left the keeper too exposed.

I don't rate him highly and he's a bit prone to fluffing his lines, however in our current squad that shouldn't single him out.

You've got to be kidding ?

I think if folk are arguing whether someone is singlehandedly taking us down, has a great attitude and picking up a "small (premier league) wage" and that you shouldn't post in case he reads it and it's nasty then your argument might be lost ?

Not really sure it works like that Brainy. I think it's you that's got the opinion but has nothing to base it on, if you don't even go to games.
You just love a jolly good argument you do.

When you were overseas and I said that to you, you dismissed it as irrelevant.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

You certainly see more live. Especially where Wayne is concerned. I did see every game on network TV live when overseas though. That's all I will say without getting pulled into more tittle tattle.

susmilk,

You keep banging on about clean sheets and refuse, when challenged, to blame the defence in front of WH. Against Liverpool at Anfield the lack of a clean sheet was not down to Wayne which you acknowledged at the time. (see below)

There have been other games such as Burnley, Swansea and Soton where the defeats in no way can be down solely to Hennessey.

Is the defence better or worse than what Speroni had in front of him? Simple question.

The whole team is poor and every team should defend from the front.
Puncheon for example is a total liability allowing constant threats down our left hand side and all of this gives Hennessey bigger problems than he might otherwise have - this is just one example.
However - in my mind - despite the saves that he makes - which he should anyway he is a problem for us because
1. He does not command the penalty area
2. He does not even command the 6 yard box!
3. His positioning is questionable
4. He shows no conviction or aggression when he comes out for the ball
5. He hesitates too much
6. He is slow to get down to a low ball
7. When he does he appears to fall on the spot rather than dive
If I were in defence I would be pooping myself all of the time!

Agree with all of this! Maybe not the pooping bit as they are professionals, but the rest, bang on.

We have rarely had a settled defence in recent times, so I would say currently worse. Only when Sakho first arrived did the defence look good and we had some clean sheets. In any case, Speroni did not have a clean sheet in any off his last 16 PL games - he was just fortunate that someone was able to score goals at the other end.
