Awesome signings by Sam. We needed a DM he signs Luka, also needed a leader at the back he signs Sakho. The LB problem which we've had all season is addressed by signing two in PVA and Schlupp which now looks a very wise move with PVA injured. It took him a while but the bloke clearly knows what he is doing.

with this in mind, he'll no doubt replace right back and gk in close season, if we stay up.

Ward is a very good right back, He lost his confidence playing in a defence that was a bit shambolic at times. Watch him improve back to his best as his confidence returns. We 100% need a better keeper.

I think he might also look at a striker to challenge Benteke for his position, or at least understudy him.

True, I've always liked Ward.

I wouldn't necessarily sell him, but him as back up would be awesome.

Hope Begovic of Chelsea is considered, he is for sale and is pretty darn good.

He definitely wanted Jenkinson, who would have offered us more in an attacking sense than Ward. If we stay up then i RB will definitely be a position we see strengthened. If Sunderland go down and we stay up then expect him to be in for Defoe.

Even if it's not a replacement, I think we need more competition than Kelly.

Goalkeeper comes down to what is available. I'm not that unhappy compared to some with WH, but understand he is limited.

However, if we sign anyone it needs to be a goalkeeper who is clearly better than the three we have. That might mean spending some more money, but if it's a position that is sorted then I'd be happy doing that. No point in bringing in another person to compete with what we have. They need to be walking in as the undisputed No.1

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

Without doubt Ward needs replacing if we are to keep progressing. Far too weak in possession, lacks pace, and doesn't contribute enough going forward. Can be solid at the back and that is what will recover with confidence being restored, but he'll never be good enough if Sam wants to move us on.

By the sounds of it we also need to think strategically about a replacement for Wilf. Even if we stay up, I can't see him turning down Spurs and they look likely to come back with a decent reasonable offer this time.

Mandanda - if he settles - is a quality keeper and needs to be given time, but it is looking suspiciously like he doesn't want to settle and we'll not see him again. On that assumption then yes we obviously need a new keeper.

Oh and assuming we do stay up, then trying to secure Sakho on a perm move would be a major coup.

The biggest problem with Ward is that he lacks pace. He needs to be more intelligent with his positioning so he does get caught out trying to catch up.

PVA and Schlupp have that advantage of being able to recover positions.

If we stay up, I would look for competition at RB for Ward.

The bloke knows what he is doing. Never been doubt. Just had a few people on here calling him big fat sam saying that we made the wrong decision. Shows how much attention they must have paid to football over the past 15-20 years really.

You know what, I actually do like Connor Wickham and if he could stay fit then I'd love him to be the one. Just hope he can, poor fella.
