What pleased me most yesterday was the new tactics being worked on.

Under Pardew...Wayne gets the ball...kicks it into orbit for hopefully Benteke to control. Nine time out of ten we lost the ball. No possession!

Under Sam...Wayne gets the ball..Sakho drops short..collects the ball...he looks up for movement...and passes a lovely weighted ball ...usually to feet of the player making a run.

Tomkins is also looking 100 times better. Full of confidence and prepared ro pass the ball around.

Proper tactics....proper coaching...proper stratetgies in place.

Should just add Sammy Lee was very vocal, yesterday as well. Can't knock the guys passion for the game. He knows his stuff! He. Old also be the appointment of the season!

End of the Hoof, really. I must of watched another game then?
Sam is doing a wonderful job, but come on. Today was two long ball teams pretending to play football by passing it around the back 4 endlessly to no effect before lumping it forward. I have no problem with it, just to be clear.

Maybe not the end of the hoof, but a lot less of it.
Sakho for one prefers to find a man rather than just boot the ball up field in a hit and hope manner.
At times the hoof is necessary when danger calls.
Sakho's presence has had an inspiring affect on the rest of the defence, and has given his team mates the confidence not to treat the ball like a hot potato.

Except for Schlupp who has no composure whatsoever playing in defence.

I saw an old video on sky of a Liverpool game from about 20 years ago, Sammy lee was on the bench as a coach. he has so much experience and credit should be given to him as well as big sam

Countless times Sakho found a man to pass it to. Countless times then all was played up the wing to feet for Wilf or Andros to run on to. Your description of the teams is generally fair but compare it to Delaney who with time would knock a forty yard plus pass up field and Dann wasn't much better. The defence are holding onto the ball with confidence and midfielders are moving to receive passes. We are not solely long ball.

I must have been watching a different season then? Pardew played a passing game and always built up from the back, often passing across the back four and back again. Once Sam came in it was complete hoof ball, now he's dropped back to a bit of passing with a large part of hoof ball.

Schlupp and Sakho both seem capable of passing the ball accurately ,but are sensible enough to clear their lines when necessary. They enabled Wilf to have plenty of possession against Watford.
There is a lot of nonsense spoken about Sam's tactics, now he has added some new faces and gotten used to the ones we already had we seem to be much more comfortable on the ball, and are quite happy to pass it around when required.

LOL

Still had second highest number of long balls of any team by the time he left.

He was more attacking, but we were still hoofing it under him. The only time we consistently tried passing out was with Mandanda, but then we had Kelly and Damo in the defence and they hated it so ended up hoofing anyway
