Sorry to be negative after such an epic win, but Sky really p1ssed me off last night.

Although a lifelong fan of 50+ years of going to Selhurst, I have now got Parkinsons Disease and Arthritic knee joints, so at 62 years old I rely on Sky to watch my beloved team as my mobility is limited.

Sky coverage started at 7pm, but for 45 minutes they interviewed Claudio Ranieri about Leicester FFS.

We barely had time to digest the team line ups before kick off let alone see Kayla, The Crystals, the Holmesdale faithful etc.

Throughout the match they focussed in on Wenger's anguished face and angry gooners protesting.

After the game all the focus was on Wenger's situation and barely a mention of how well we played to beat them.

They finished off with another 30 minutes of Ranieri and Leicester....

FFS.....

To be fair, that happened a lot!

But yes, I was there but recorded the game for later and it was all Ranieri, LCFC & Arsenal rather than how our game plan thwarted and beat them.

I imagine had the Chelsea game been televised on Sky then it would have been the same story. Unfortunately, with their virtual monopoly I don't see that changing.

And after on sky news online it's all about tame Arsenal rather than anything on the fact Palace turned up and performed.

Shocking media just pumping there own stories.

No interest in Palace at all.

Good! Don't want our tactics being dissected for all future teams to counteract.
It's the kind of thing i've learned to accept at this stage, no matter how well we play against big teams it'll always come down to how this affects them rather than how big it is for us.

The whole Arsenal thing is really amusing though. I enjoyed 15 mins of Arsenal fan TV on the train this morning. Wenger In!

TalkSport were the same. After the match one of our fans rang in and pointed out them banging on about Arsenal when they should have been talking about how good we were. Jason Cundy agreed and gave him a few minutes then at the end of the call asked him if he thought Wenger should stay or go !!

I don't think Sky deserve singling out for that criticism. The entire narrative in the press has been the decline of Wenger and Arsenal, as opposed to much positive outside of comments about Zaha (which is only being used to reinforce points they made about the FA/Southgate last week).

And the Leicester stuff was because Ranieri was giving his first proper interview since being sacked and I suspect they knew he was going to say someone stabbed him in the back and so they wanted to draw attention to it.

I did find the coverage (across all the media) frustrating because personally I think Arsenal's realistic top 4 challenge was already done before yesterday, while our season still had (and does have) significant amounts to play out. But that is the nature of the beast - Arsenal are a bigger club and their story is deemed to be "bigger".

I don't think it is an anti-Palace thing. Had Arsenal been playing Burnley or Soton and lost three-nil I think the stories would have been the same. Certainly after West Brom thumped them 3-1, the majority of the narrative was about how poor Arsenal were, rather than particular praise for Pulis et al.

Would also say I think the coverage would have been different had it been Spurs we beat 3-0, or Liverpool. It all adds to the story about the decline and fall of Wenger that the press/media really want to tell.

It is the way of the world.

Not saying it is right but the people interested in Arsenal is massive compared to us hence the skewed coverage.

Completely agree Hoof...even when hey spoke about us Ranieri was almost forced with twisted arm to say something vaguely complimentary whilst gushing about Arsenal.

c***!

Very good post, altough I do understand where the OP is coming from. I couldn't make the game last night because of a back injury, so had to make do with Sky Sports.

Not sure who I struggled to understand more, Ranieri or Carragher !!
