Sh*t. I knew he was in hospital but was hoping he'd be ok.

I really liked him as a player.

Very sad news indeed. He was a tremendous player and still had so much to offer the game. He will be sadly missed by his family as well as generations of fans young and old who will always remember him fondly.

It is bonkers how young so many professional sports people die. you would think that along with being fit, the monitoring etc would prevent things like this from happening

I recall Ehiogu as a commanding figure with a physical presence, strong and quick and never saw him get a chasing.He was an out-and-out defender and a good communicator.
Bryan Robson signed him for both Middlesbrough and Sheff Utd.

So very sad and my thoughts go out to all his family and friends.

RIP.
