I Think Martin Kelly has been pretty decent at centre back in the last three games.

He looks much better as a centre back than a full back, which is as far as I am aware the position he had always played at both Liverpool and Palace?

I agree. Had taken a while though.

He used to get skinned at left back. Painfully so.

He has been great recently.

Probably because he was hung out to dry at lb. Surprised he's got any confidence left after that

I thought he was great and Tomkins too. The biggest compliment i can give them is that we didn't miss Sakho

He has played all along the back four but centre-half is his preferred position although some have said that he is really a right-back.
Must say I prefer him in his "Preferred position".

Martin has proved his worth and deserves a new contract in the summer.

Kelly is one of those players who received a lot of thoughtless criticism while playing a secondary position.

Even recently people on here were saying we should get rid.

He's always been a good player for us and considering the size of our club, when we got him, we have been lucky to have him.

I always thought Kelly was a decent squad player but was dubious when people suggested he should play at centre half. He has done well though. I believe Sam has a reputation for coaxing the best out of defenders having been one himself. I'm told he did a good job with Kone at Sunderland who is now shockingly bad according to their fans.

Probably not worth a new thread but (tin hat on) I also think Campbell is a decent squad player as fourth striker behind Benteke, WIckham and A N Other next season.

Was in the Telegraph's 'Team of the Week' along with
Christian Benteke. Not often we have TWO players in it. Thoroughly deserved even if he was fortunate not to concede 'that' penalty....

I think he has been pretty decent at CB and it's the first time in his career he has had a run in that position. I still think he is backup because he doesn't Instill the same confidence Sakho and Tomkins do, but we could do a lot worse as a backup CB. Just please please never play him at fullback again.
