We had a run in which included all the top six. So far we've beate. 3/4 of them. Two losses, one of which was a narrow loss to the best side currently in the league formwise and it's all doom and gloom. My favourite sentiment is the 'we'll get nothing from Hull'.
How negative is that?! By then there is a chance we'll have some injured players back. Plus, the way we've played against the top six means there is every chance we can get a point out of city or united.

I get it's a tense time. But my god! Some people need to man up. I hope they leave their negativity at home when supporting from the stands. Like I've said time and again, we can all point to Oldham but for reasons of balance we should therefore point to Stockport away too. Get a grip for goodness sake!

Did you see how poor Man U were yesterday ? Surely if Swansea can get a point there we can. They may even have a Europa Cup final to play the following week as well. Saturday we just weren't on it , I'm sure come Citeh and Hull with players back we can get points.

Which players are going to be back then?

Thank you! In the dark days after the 4-0 Sunderland defeat we definitely would have taken being 6 points clear (plus vastly superior goal difference) with 3 games to go. What annoys me about some of the quite irritatingly pessimistic posters is that they will say they are being 'realistic' as if believing (note: believing not 'knowing') that we have probably (almost) done enough to stay up is naive. 'I remember Oldham!!' is the refrain. Veering towards the 'I think we will stay up' camp does not mean that you are complacement! Look at this way: it is probably more likely we will stay up than go down. That does not mean we think 'we're safe, let's chill'. I will certainly be cheering on Everton should we lose to City for instance.

The manner of the performance v Burnley was terrible but our injuries combined with the fatigue of playing so many matches in a short period took its toll. But let's remember: Hull and Swansea only took a point each this weekend and Hull's was against Southampton who missed a pen in the last minute! It doesn't mean we are definitely doomed because of it.

You can't ignore losing 4 of our best players. We just don't have the cover for them nor do most other teams. Saturday team are very different.

I think laddo is not saying 'we'll definitely be fine' rather that the level of negativity/pessimism is extraordinarily disproportionate.

I don't think that's been the case at all. It's understandable that there will be concerns expressed in light of our not yet being safe, relegation rivals picking up points, our injury list, that dreadful performance on Saturday and our run-in. I haven't seen anyone say "that's it, we're down", but there's understandable caution with respect to whether we've done enough yet.

One point closer to the relegation zone at the end of this weekend compared to the end of last weekend, yes. I feel nervous that we play Hull though... I would feel better, actually, if we didn't have to play any of our relegation rivals (would rather avoid 6 pointers).

The injuries have been atrocious, but we're not suddenly s*** over night and I think we'd give most teams in the league a very difficult game still. The Spurs game was tight, decided only by a wonder strike (yes, Spurs were the better team overall) and we were only terrible against Burnley (every Palace fan just knew we'd lose that one and beat one of Spurs and Liverpool).

Swansea need 2 wins and a draw from 3 and Hull will need a win and 2 draws or 2 wins while we fail to pick up a point for both to go ahead of us. We will need all of this to happen for us to go down. Certainly not impossible, hell, not even improbable but certainly very unlikely. To therefore be optimistic about our chances is not stupid. Caution is good, certainly. But some posters (will name no names) honestly think we're now toast.

But those are the same posters who think it's OK for Madley to be as s***e as he was on Saturday.

I would point out that we've only lost games lately where midweek fixtures have been involved: Spurs (midweek), Burnley (following midweek game) and Southampton (midweek).

Give Sam a full week to prepare for a match and he gets it right. The others we've all won except Leicester, and there we fought back after a poor start to win a point with a good second half performance.

You can bet that most Hull & Swansea supporters would rather be in our shoes right now.

Man Utd have also got huge injury problems plus the distraction of the Europa League and they may well not be playing for anything important by the last day. And they're the draw specialists.

Can easily see us getting at least a point there on the last day if we really need one.

And you can't rule out Sunderland playing for a bit of pride now that their fate is sealed and the pressure is off.

People must also realise the pressure Hull and Swansea will be under to win all their games, ten fold on what we should be feeling with 6 points clear and better goal difference. And isn't great we still have to play one of our relegation rivals in Hull, that is actually a bonus.

After we lost to Sunderland and Stoke we were as good as down. Looking at the fixtures, we had to play the top six in April and May. At that stage we were looking Southampton, and the home games against Leicester, Burnley, and Hull as the games we had to win to even be in the picture. We have done better than that.so we should be happy with the poistion we are in. Even if we get a point against City we are not mathamatically safe because if Swansea win their remaing games they would end up with 41 points and if Hull win their remaing games they would end up with 42. A football game is unpridictable so it is a mugs game to try and specualate as to how the matches will pan out. No expert can tell you that. so it is time to relax and accept that what will be will be.
