I was at Arsenal in 1993 when we lost 3-0 and were relegated. I was at Charlton in 2005 when we drew 2-2 and were relegated. I was at Sheffield Wednesday in 2010 when we drew 2-2 and stayed up. I missed the match at Stockport in 2001 when we won 1-0 and stayed up, although I was at the previous match at Portsmouth (4-2 to the Palace) which we also had to win to have a chance of staying up.
I can't believe we are about to go through all this again. At least the decider is at home this time!

PS Just looked through Crystal Palace The Complete Record 1905-1989 for relegation deciders since 1957, when I first watched Palace. There don't seem to have been any single-match deciders before Arsenal in 1993, as each time Palace were relegated well before the end of the season.

The decider will be at Old Trafford if we lose. Sorry to be pedantic, it's a decider for Hull they need to win.

I was at the Portsmouth and Stockport matches and they remain two of my favourite matches. Getting back to my car alive was touch and go against Pompey but Stockport was great in the pubs.

Charlton away was one of my least favourite matches, although for 8/9 minutes it looked as if it was going to be great.

So much fun to be had at the wrong end of the table!

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

That's a fair point. The most dramatic of the matches I listed has to be Sheffield Wednesday, in that it was either them or us who went down. In the other three, the other side was not at risk. The Hull match runs Sheffield Wednesday close, in that we stay up if we draw or win, while Hull are one of the two other relegation candidates - although they will still be playing for safety in the final match of the season, whatever happens on Sunday.

Not if Swansea were to lose at the Stadium of Sh!te.

Horribly tense. When its relegation its a lot worse than promotion. When we were in the play offs against Brighton and Watford, I didn't feel any where near as concerned in the run in, the play offs or the final - Knowing that even if we lost, we'd had a fantastic season, a complete transformation. Promotion is just the icing on the cake.

Relegation though, its a season of tense often s**t football, wracked with disappointments, thrashings and then you could also have the final humiliation dumped on top, of being relegated. That's why beating Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool were so sweet, because the season had been so horrible.

That said, if we were in the position Leicester were last season in the final run in I'd be tense as f**k - But its easier to live with coming 2nd, as its still an achievement, but relegation - that's failure - Its worse than coming 18th by such a massive margin.
