Big Sam has prioritised the French duo of top of his list. Both French full backs out of contracts. Clichy 31 and sagna 34 have a wealth of prem experience and have won the big prize of the premier league.

Maybe he's seen enough that schlupp can play in that winger spot. Also the French connection may also help persuade Sakho and cabaye that their future lies at selhurst.

Wouldn't mind Gaelic but if he wants both would mean wards days are numbered he might even sell ward they are definitely up grades on ward for sure and would only be they wages we would be forking out for we need to save money if we're going to buy sakho what a defence we would have though BRILLIANT

Both injury prone. Think clichy would be a class signing. If this deal does happen then there a massive doubt that soaure will return.

This would provide competition for Ward and PVA which is needed. Lets face it, Ward has never really had to compete for his place. And Pape is very unlikely to make it back into the first team. Shlupp, PVA and Clichy would be some competition and can see one of them pushing further up.

Clichy is a right footed left back.
Palace has tried that before and it ended up horribly. In fact, every club in the world has tried that and it almost aleays ended up horribly.

I'm so tired of right footed players playing at left back (de Sciglio, Darmian, Santon....).
Seemingly they're good in multiple positions, but i fact they're not good in any.
Only one who could cut it was Layun for Porto.

Clichy.....too old, too late, too wrong for the left back.
Sagna is too old as well

I bet you could find 20 fullback that would fit our price range. In a perfect world you would want a full back that 24, great pace and potential sell on. Maybe Sam thinks it vital to have players like sagna and clichy. Look what Sam done with michel Salgado. He has a history of signing players that many people think are finished yet gets a couple more years out of them. I trust Sam judgment as so far he done well in the market. Also signing free agents also may mean we have a bigger budget to spend on Sakho and a goalie.

He's left footed is he not?? Anyway left back is the least of our worries.

He is basically ambidextrous although his right foot is his natural choice. Never affected his game though and he is perfectly capable of tackling or delivering good crosses with either. Saying Clichy isn't good is more nonsense from Mattteo. He was a success at Arsenal and Man City. He is better than anything we have and isn't that old at 31.

As for Sagna we are in dire need of an upgrade on Ward. You'd be hard pressed to find one with PL experience and on a free Other than him or Glen Johnson.

Cannot possibly see anything in this.

Sagna is 34, will demand high wages (though we do need right back cover).

Clichy although younger at 31, will again demand high wages but we already 2 (possibly 3 left backs)

Silly season has started already when we are linked to everyone from Jamie Oliver to Buzz Aldrin.
