I was really excited by the signing of Jose Campana, but he was completely the wrong type of player for that season.

And I remember watching a Hungary match where their centre forward, Sandor Torghelle, absolutely bullied the opposition's defence (may have been against Scotland) - so I was delighted when we signed him. That one didn't end well!

Steve Mandanda.

Thought we'do got ourselves an undisputed proper keeper. Just hasn't got going.

I've got a f***ing cat named after him. Now he's set to leave I'm stuck with a cat called Steve.

Marco Gabbiadini. Bought in October 1991 for 1.8 mil, sold in January 1992 for 1.2 million. Was supposed to replace Ian Wright. Never had a chance.

Yes, a very strange signing. Nothing like Ian Wright as a player, but we continued playing the same way and of course it didn't work.

As I recall, not long after selling Gabbiadini we did change our playing style...

I'm afraid it has to be an Italian.. either Padovano or Ventola. Both absolute crap.

I seem to recall Ventola being quite good except he didn't play much as he was injured almost as soon as he got here

I know this isn't a signing but john Bostock. Highly reguarded and hype to the maximum. Now playing his football in ligue 2 .

Badly advised.

Valerein Ismael French centre half I believe we paid around 2.5 milion for and Gareth Taylor. I think we paid Bristol Rovers about 1Million.

Ismael was superb...and was f***ed up by a cruciate injury at the start of his time with us...it's no coincidence that he went on to play Champions League footie once he recovered.

The flop for me was Thomas Brolin!

Nick Day.... Came to us from Spurs with this reputation of being a great up and coming keeper, England U21 goalkeeper and future full England international.....

He was f***ing crap and got replaced halfway through the season by Carlo Nash, who was absolute quality and had cost us peanuts from non league.

Do you mean Chris day?

Jose Campaņa. I remember Holloway saying he was so knowledgeable he'd be a better manager than he was. Although, he was probably right about that.

Padavano top of my list. I am sure we signed an Israeli who grabbed the ball to take a pen. His name escapes me but he was proper pony. The two chinamen never really delivered for me either.

Padavano is probably top of my list for the worst Palace player I can remember. His name is absolute mud in my household. I would've volunteered his name but I can't actually think back to whether or not there was much hype about him joining us.
