I have just seen the interview on Eagles.cpfc and felt all choked up, great little film/interview and although from another time brought back some very good memories of Palace survival and I remember so well how we thought he was no good but then came good in terms of passion and belief which we really needed back then, said it all about Alan Smith. Just saying.

I remember back in the admin days as a 15 year old, spending my money in the club shop thinking it would save the club. I was proud as punch wearing my TFG sports jumper to school.

He was a god awful footballer though. Quite how he got into the Spurs team I'll never know. I remember being excited about us signing him based on the fact he must be good because he was getting into a decent Spurs side. Wrong.

A terrible footballer who would certainly be in the running for my Worst 11. Seems like a decent bloke and Norwich away was the same for him as Pardew in the SF

I've always put the Norwich away game when we won 1-0 with the kids up ther in my best ever games list ,we all thought it was gonna be the last ever palace game, deno was brilliant that day as was the team but the best memory was demo leading the celebration with the fans at the end, and there's always the demo clap, top bloke and a palace legend in my book!

Have to stick up for Deano. Played above his level for a long time because of his professionalism. Not the most talented footballer but gave his all. He played non-league after retiring, a friend played against him in midfield and said he couldn't get anywhere near him. Gave him the run around he said. I once asked him as a fourteen year old if he would ever score for Palace. He wasn't happy as I recall, but he kept his calm. I wish him all the best as a coach.
