The questions are endless: just why? why didn't they fire a test shot through the book first to see if it would penetrate? is this a blessing for the gene pool? they were allowed to have both children and guns - surely some mistake? neighbours were watching - nobody thought to say "are you sure"?

I'll be honest, this couple look rough like my neighbours. If I saw them out in the street doing a stunt like this I'd whisper to my wife "he's going to die" just to get it on record that I knew and then I'd shout "GO ON MATE, THIS IS GONNA LOOK AWESOME".

Quote County Attorney James Brue described the book as a hardcover encyclopaedia, and said the weapon used was a .50-calibre Desert Eagle handgun.
I can't imagine where this went wrong. Sadly it seems he managed to get her knocked up before being shuffled off his mortal coil. In all honesty, what surprises me most about this story is that they owned an encyclopedia, let alone a book. Seriously, its like someone trying to actually catch the bullet in their teeth, using a fully automatic sub-machine gun.

The only book I can think of that would stop a .50-calibre Desert Eagle handgun is the Argos catalogue.
