Last season, extremely fortunate that Benteke didn't miss many matches but with Connor wickham injury form. Do we need 1 additional striker or 2. I was looking back since promotion and yes the addition of 2 strikers would be great but some of the 4th choice strikers in that role included sanago, bamford, Kevin Doyle , Andy Johnson (past his prime but a sentimental purchase) and even Jonathan Benteke. That list of names uninspiring and is it stop the likes of appiah (who recently left) or lapado from making a similar contribution.

What's your thoughts?

We need 2 more not just one absolutely. 3 strikers is not enough. Especially when one is made of glass like wickham. If we have 4 strikers then we are always able to mix it up and try two up top of we are chasing a game or FdB thinks it will work against a certain team, we were so lucky last season with Benteke staying fit.

We cannot rely on Wickham at the moment due to his recent injury record.

Just say Benteke got injured in one of the early games and was out for a while, who on earth could we rely on to replace him if we never got someone in ? Also after August the 'Transfer Window' closes.

We need another striker but if we go down the route of a single striker then we need to lure someone who is prepared to sit on the bench and this could severely limit our chances of getting a quality player in.

You missed the point because the calibre of 4th choice forwards we bought in over the years have been terrible. Is it really worth bringing in an aruna kone for example or would lapado do a similar job. I'd go for a top striker like Batshuyai or bakcambu. Then if Benteke injured use a kid to fill the bench, and play bakcambu for instance or do we get 2 average strikers like bony and rossi.

We have to get at least 1 in but money seems tight so it's a worry will be gamble on Benteke staying fit and Wickham backing him up. Personally that's a big risk which we don't need to take.

Let's hope Frank knows of a "gem" who can actually play proper "total football".

Look at the top half clubs most only have 3 maximum strikers

Chelsea -(2) Costa and batshuyai
Spurs- (2) Kane and Jansen
Man City -(3) aguero, Jesus and innacheco
Liverpool (3) origi , firminio and struddige
Arsenal (3) Giroud and Perez and welbeck
Man Utd (3) rashford, ibra and martial
Everton (3) lukaku , Valencia and kone
Southampton (3) Austin , giadanni and Shane long

All these expect Chelsea and Liverpool played in European football and had only 3 strikers. This is why I don't think we need 4 strikers. Especially if we continue with a 1 striker formation.

I'd love us to sign another striker - but I kind of wonder whether FDB will stick to 1 mainline striker, or sometimes opt for two...With just one, it'll be tough for anyone to get much game time ahead of Benteke. Which might put a lot of people off coming.

Time for Anderson and Ladapo to stake their claim with FdB. Hopefully, Anderson will come good in pre-season. I think he has something to offer at a high level. If Wickham is not fully fit until Sept, then, what have we got to lose until the end of Aug?

Exactly - we could end up spending a lot of money on someone who will be mostly keeping the bench warm (assuming that Benteke stays fit). I'd imagine that we will still be building our team around Benteke, so do we just buy a like-for-like backup in case he gets an injury or buy someone totally different?
