Who do you think was better?

Similar kind of players, both tall target men.

According to Wikepdia their Palace goal scoring record is:

Bright: Played 227 - scored 91
Benteke: Played 37 - scored 15

Similar records although most of Brights were in the second tier.

Benteke commanded the big fee and is an international unlike Bright however Bright played for us during our most successful period by far.
I imagine Bright also made a lot more assists (to Wrighty).

Personally I think this is a close one however (and it maybe through rose tinted glasses) I would probably edge Bright.

Benteke gets games for a good Belgium team, Bright never got an England cap , or was wanted by any of the top teams.
But my glasses are the same as yours , loved him , grafted all day long and him and Wright were mustard. The winner against millwall in the 4-3 at home (with Hopkins 40 yard own goal) , has one of many highlights.
He'd be in my all time eleven I've seen and I've seen Benteke.
Like Benteke though.

The only real difference.....

Bright had Wright next to him.

Now....

If Benteke had Dwight next to him, now that would be some partnership.

I agree. 2nd most irritating thing over the weekend for me was listening to Alan Pardew talking about what a good player and finisher Dwight Gayle is. Didn't he leave him on the bench and then flog him?

Brighty .......work rate, aggression, clever and when the chips were down he would invariably deliver. Great link up player as well, oh and didn't sulk!

It has to be Bright any time. Johnny Byrne and Cliff Holton were also great strikers for us back in the old days. A bit of nostalgia does no harm.

Just bumping a thread I started back in August.

How times have changed!

This question would not even be asked now!

Sorry, I misread the title. I thought it said "Bumfluff v Benteke". That might be a valid question.

Your still completely oblivious to a certain massive difference, which your stupid to overlook.

One is played as a lone striker.

One was part of a partnership.

SAS Sutton and shearer.

York and Cole.

Bright and Wright.

Benteke and......

That's the difference. Your comparing one man doing the whole job, alone. To another man who did 50% of the job, while someone else did the other 50%.

So maybe.... just to be fair.... ask yourself.... Does benteke do 50% of a job?
Because that's what bright did.
