Fair comment, Dave. "Long ago" maybe, but "Longer ago than 10 days before the end of the transfer window" certainly.

Now today we have the appointment of Dougie Freedman.
I don't care about how he left the club back in 2012 , thats football and everyone is out for themselves , clubs and employees included
What I DO CARE about is that this appointment of a VERY AVERAGE CHAMPIONSHIP manager has clearly been put in place so that Freedman can replace FDB when he fails , as he will do , probably before christmas time .
The first few weeks speaks bucket loads of the ambition of Parish and the club . Clearly FDB was the only manager available that was going to accept the limited budget , and in doing so said that he wanted to change style . In not having funds definitely speeded up Big Sam's retirement and definitely left Tony Pulis feeling less than confident .
So here we are , bottom of the table , a team in confusion , manager without a clue ,no transfer budget , and a sporting director who's managed a championship side for a season and half.
What a joke
This time next year , Freedman will be manager , we will be in the Championship .

Get your crystal ball fixed. Because you're an absolute embarrassment as a fan.

Here you go again with more anti-Palace posts and I say that because it seems that this is more to do with you rubbishing our club than the appointment of Freedman.

You say that you don't care how he left the club but love him of hate him, we all cared about the way he left the club, even the players at the time were shocked.

When you say you don't care, I suspect it's because you were busy getting p!ssed with the Toon Army.

Then you go one to say that FDB was the only manager that would accept the clubs budget, when in his first press conference he said that Palace are a club that spends but it's about how you spend the money, not just about the tranfer budget. So he didn't seem to think that we were a club with no money, or a club that would not support him. If that was the case he wouldn't have come. Also weren't there some 40 applications for the job?

Again you spout unsupported rubbish about why Big Sam left, stating lack of funds. Really!! We spent big in January. I remember when the window closed, Sam was positively beaming with the signings the club made. In fact, after he left the club, he is quoted as saying, in relation to our signings in January...

"That was a massive investment by the owners, to back me up, we spent circa 36 million and that helped us out of trouble".

So it's actually the complete opposite to what you state. You even pull the Pulis card, talking about his lack of confidence.. LOL. Pulis has never been short on confidence. Quite the opposite, (again) if anything he suffers with arrogance.

My post is not about people having different opinions to my own. I can fully understand how some would be very unhappy about this last appointment, I don't know exactly how I feel about it myself. I can also understand the frustration with the time it takes to sign the right players or Sakho coming to us or not, or even if FDB is the right man for the job, I hope he is but time will tell, not one game.

What I have a problem with, is when people come on here and post there own made up thoughts in order to satisfy there own agenda of simply rubbishing our club while pretending to support the club.

I have not seen one post from you in support of Palace, Which leaves me to believe that you are in fact a troll and your posts are not just opinion but intentional "fake news'..

You round off with "This time next year... we will be in the Championship".

Sounds to me like that's what you want. Your club maybe in the Championship next year but I think and hope that Palace will be OK.

On page 4, he made a post with no content. Does that count?

f*** me.... Some of the 'fans' on here are just unbelievable.

I have total faith in FDB... He knows what he wants to do and how we wants to do it... It might take a bit of TIME though.. Something alot of fans seem to lack these days.

Rome wasn't built in a day.

I just hope Croydonlad isn't manning the phones at the Samaritans after match days.

You won't be able to drive through Croydon for falling bodies from Croydon underpass.

I just woke up from a kip.
I read this post and momentarily thought I had been in a Coma for 4 months and we were bottom of the league at Christmas.
But nope. We are still 2 games in and some people are just mental.
I also thought that other post about 'Complaining Now' was going to be about the catering.

After reading both I am feeling sleepy again.

I listened to it too and have the complete opposite reaction.

We have to sell before we can buy... How is that a positive? Do you think it will be Mutch, Lee or Sako?

One question. Why would anyone waste money paying some bloke to wait around in the wings just in case the current manager fails and the board want to replace him.

This isn't an unusual tactic and has been employed at many clubs in the distant and near future in particular at Fulham a couple of years ago.

Just because you find something difficult to comprehend it doesn't mean it isn't true.

The whole situation stinks.

I quite like this piece from FYP to give it some context:

"On the face of it, the appointment of a Sporting Director is a progressive one. It gives the chance for appropriate focus to be given to the club’s infrastructure. It allows the manager to focus more on first team affairs while someone with an in-depth working knowledge of football able to conduct the administrative function as opposed to the Chairman. It also adds weight to Tim Coe’s team as player recruitment models evolve.

The days of hearing about players, going to watch them play and evaluating them are close to becoming a thing of the past. Now, agencies are able to feed data directly into the systems of clubs and recruitment teams crunch numbers and use this as a first port of call in player evaluation. It makes sense that joining that team is somebody who has played the game, scouted, coached and managed.

A Sporting Director with a playing and coaching pedigree is able to balance the needs of the manager as well as delve into the analytics which have a degree of emphasis placed upon them this season.

Further, should the appointment be long-term, it allows for continuity behind the scenes, a development of strategy and implementation of longer term plans not contingent on the retention of any particular manager. In turn, it should allow for more wrinkle-free managerial appointments and the idea that the club has a blueprint and a manager is hired to see that through as opposed to each coming with his own ideas."

FYP are basically Parish's propaganda machine and are far too pally with him to be critical even if they wanted to be.

For the Championship. Funny how Bolton and Forest haven't benefited from his keen eye for a player and how nobody else wanted to give him a job.

Yeah, all Freedman and nothing to do with scouts or agents pimping out their players. Freedman is bloody great! Can't understand why he hasn't been appointed chief scout at another club...
