Martin Kelly or Yohan Cabaye?

By playing 3 at the back it feels like we have effectively swapped a midfield maestro for a defender. It was my first live game of the season and that's my conclusion. The first half was dull dull dull. De Bore as it were. Quite simply we are not using our best players and we're losing. We are playing with 5 defenders and unfortunately they aren't our best players. I don't think we need to play 3 at the back, if we have a midfielder who is comfortable dropping deep to collect the ball and provide a screen. The Dutch boys will have been trained playing 3 at the back but Dann and Tomkins, no chance.

Do you not think after the improvement in the second half (despite the goal) he will look to change. He has played 4-3-3 before and it looks far more effective.

I'm worried that Swansea played a different game plan in the second, they could afford to . The first half was really poor, so many bad passes. That was more of an indication of FDB tactics. Parrot

Cabaye has to play , he is one of few players we have who is quality ,not asking him to come on as sub and save us when 2-0 down . Kelly is a squad player at best and should really only be appearing after injuries and Suspensions to others . he has put in a few good performances when fresh but when used regularly he tends to make errors .
And we still need a striker |

OP is correct this time - in the first half, our 5 at the back only meant that we had another pointless CB. When Cabaye came on, he was dropping really deep and then distributing. No need for 3 CBs faffing around with the ball.

Cabaye ought to have started the match. But regardless, when Tomkins got injured the big mistake was bringing Kelly on instead of Schlupp. Ought to have gone to a 4231 side of: Then a sub later in the game bringing Cabaye on for Puncheon.
