This could be a great signing. High quality german youth internatiional footballer, right sided, could provide cover for Luka and hopefully make the RWB position his own (thank you wiki!)

Although this is accredited to Bild, there's no sign of this on the Bild website apart from a one-liner in the transfer rumours list, "Matthias Zimmermann (25) steht vorm Abflug zu Crystal Palace. " ("Matthias Zimmerman (25) is about to depart for Crystal Palace". Echo 24 has some more substantive comment:

I think (hope) its because he can play RWB. Ward is still our only player in that position, and now a recognised weak point that many teams exploit. So if its to get a good RWB for a dec nt price, defintely.
